Hi! I saw the following post by knakedkinitter and had to jump in right away! Back in 1996 I started experiences very similar symptoms and after repeated trips to the ER, a bazillion tests, xrays, sonograms, etc.. .nothing. Until I finally found a Dr. who was familiar with this sort of pain... Gastroparesis or basically "lazy stomach."
That's sounds way more benign than it really is. Symptoms can be controlled with a strict diet. Cut out veggies like lettuce, spinach or other "ruffage", cut out gasseous compositions like beans and cheeses, no fatty foods, no fried anything and eat light -- light and frequently.
What is happening is your poor stomach can't keep up. You keep eating and it's only processing and pushing along a small percentage. The rest is sitting in your stomach - fermenting, creating that bloated feeling you have... eventually your stomach can take no more and in comes your body's defense mechanisms to alert you and help you get wel...
PAIN (its saying omg overe here -- I am not well, help).. vomting and nausea follow... you'r body basically says, if it can't get out one way, might as well deliver it out the way it came in.
A trouble fact about GP == There is no cure.
In fact its something yu should be very contious of -- your stomach is the start factory to help your body stay healthy. You put fuel in, it starts the conversion of fuel to energy in your body... energy = sugar. When your tummy gets outta whack it can send your sugar levels spiking and crashing at will -- this attacks your poor body's insulin production, among other things.
If you have any sort of abdominal pain SEEK help and if they don't have an answer - ask them to look into GP.
***ALSO, if you have severe pain on your right side - at all -- GO TO YOUR LOCAL ER, DO NOT PASS GO - DO NOT COLLECT ANYTHING, a ruptured appendix is noOooo laughing matter ***

I'm 54, & I've been having these symptoms as well. I know it can't be my GB b/c I had that removed several years ago... # days ago I had an incident that nearly caused me to pass out. I had sudden, SEVERE Lf Quad pain that lasted about 5 minutes. The residual pain is still present and on a 1-10 scale is about a 5-6. But I am on a strong pain med for a chronic medical problem. I don't know what the pain would be like if I were w/out the meds on board. I can't figure out what happened! Is the pancreas on the lf or rt? Could this pain be early cancer pain?! I have an appt to see a gastroentro, later in the week. I just hope they find something conclusive. I'm a "frequent flier" with pain, but this pain in my side is something else all together!
I had awful pain in between my shoulder blades and cramping, stabbing like pains in my RUQ under my rib. It stated out smaller and over 10 years got to were I couldn't eat much of anything without throwing it back up and having an awful burning feeling. I couldn't sleep unless my upper body was elevated. I ended up seeing several drs and finally my hida scan didn't even show my GB so they specialist said it was not longer wroking and I needed it taken out. After it was removed I felt 100% better and relized how bad the pain in my back was before. I would say to have him go to a specialist to view the HIDA scan results and other tests.
I just turned 20 last week and I've had problem like this (left side pain) going back 2 and a half years. I am currently in college and an EMT, and am getting more and more frustrated everyday when my pre-med friends and EMT friends are trying to help me more than my doctor. In April of 2008 I had a cyst drained from my spleen, and the surgeon who preformed that thought I'd would fix everything. I waited 6 months, attributing everything to surgical pain, but once I couldn't eat or live normally it was time to go to the doctors again. Tests and more test for a year and nothing had come up. The pain was getting worse and I could not function, and during the fall semester of 2009, i was rushed to the emergency room 3 times. I kept passing out because the pain gets so intense, and the last time in the emergency room, the PA suggested a HIDA scan, and turns out the my gallbladder was only functioning at 17%. I had it taken out at home in December over winter break. Since then nothing has gotten better, I still cannot eat, sleep or function like a normal person should be able to. I'm really hesitating to go back to the doctors because I can't deal with the frustration anymore. Any suggestions?
I had the same problem when I was pregnant. Went to a physical therapist who specializes in pregnant women. That man was a miracle worker. He was able to put my ribs back to it's place. Apparently it is quite common during pregnancy to have the ribs pop out of their place. I had to go back several times because my ribs kept popping out, and at the end he even taught my husband how to fix it. The problem went away after I gave birth to our son.
hi i understand what you are going through. I just took my mom to the hospital with back pain on her left side and running a fever of 104. They ran all kinds of tests and the one thing that shocked us was they came back and said she had Gallbladder disease and had to get emergency surgery to remove it. Well they took her to ultrasound and came back and said her gallbladder looked fine and that we could go home. We were confused and not exactly sure what to do she is still running a fever and in pain but nothing seems to help. I hope you get better as well as my mom. 8-|
I used to have gall bladder problems. I now do what is called a "Gall Bladder Cleanse." I too showed no stones or anything but something was clearly wrong. This gall bladder flush if done correctly enables me to live life without having my gall bladder out. I think the best diagnosis I got was a languid gall bladder. I have flare ups whenever I eat something made with grapes, as I do not tolerate them well. Google "gall bladder cleanse healing cancer naturally" and it will being up the website I like best.
pancreas is upper LEFT, gall bladder and bile duct (which are attached) are upper RIGHT.

Juice, did you ever get a reply?
I ran across your post and I am also 5 months pregnant and experiencing the same pain. We're they ever able to figure out what it was?
Not likely to be the Gall Bladder, is located on the Right side. I had mine out in Nov. 2011 and I am now experiencing aches near my appendix (Right side) and Sharp pains in my upper left quadrent. The upper left is what is bugging me the most... Really the spleen is the only thing there... I really dont think it's angina? Still just not getting answers.
Di ya"ll ever find out hat exactly was going on?..I'm having exact same problems..and was told its maybe an ulcer:/??please let me know wat your diagnosis was..hope all is wellnow:)
Havin same exact pains..my dr just told me he feels like its an ulcer induced possibly by ibuprofen i was taking also stress? Wat was the turn out for you? ..hope all is well now..
