I'm also having the same problem, my doctor's don't know what's wrong with me I've had all possible tests, has anybody considered that all of us have had a salmonella infection? I'm reading about it and symptoms are abdominal cramps among others. Also I went to a chiropractor today and he thinks there may be a connection, since the nervous system is connected to all organs and muscles, anyway I'm out of ideas to try

Hi all,

I've been getting these pains on and off for my whole life - roughly every 4-6months. I went to the Dr.s for it a lot when I was younger and they thought it was swollen stomach glands. So it's similar to when you have cold symptons and your glands raise in your throat. Do you find that you get these pains after you have a cold / feel run down? It may be that you too are suffering with swollen stomach glands.

Last night I had an attack which was so severe that I almost passed out on the tube in pain. I couldn't see anything and had ringing in my ears.

I usually find taking a super strength pain killer is the only thing that helps. I take Cocodomol.

I thought for a while that it was food intolerences - however I can eat anything with now trouble usually.

Hope this helps.

I went in during an attack and they ended up removing my appendix. After that I have been pain free for over a year. I beleive it was chronic appendicitis.

I have these exact symptoms and have an idea of what is happening in my body. I havent seen a DR this is just my own opinion. I belive it is Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth or SIBO (a type of irritable bowl syndrome). What happens as i understand is the bacteria in your stomach (needed to digest your food) get over populated and 'ferment' giving off gas. If you have a diet with sugar, carbs and alcohol it feeds these bacteria and makes them thrive. Producing way too many. I have a pretty healthy diet but love bread and wine. I think the 3 months between stomach aches might be the time it takes for them to build up again. Unfortunately once the pain starts i have found no way to relieve it. Anything i try seems to make it worse, so i just go lay down and try to ride it out. Massaging the stomach helps and mint tea. Im sad to read that people have had many doctor visits and tests with no results. I did read once that there is a breath test you can do to check for this condition. Since the gas gets trapped in the small intestine rather than coming out the end like its supposed to, it gets reabsorbed and comes out thru the lungs, making this test possible. I have read there are antibiotics you can take but it is better to fix with diet. There are good books out there for eating for digestive health. Sauerkraut and Kiffir (yogurt drink) seem to be top on the list for keeping these bacteria in check. Hoping to avoid my stomach blowing up like a ballon and ruining my life for days. And hope better health for all of you too!

I read through all the comments and have this to say. I am fourteen and every couple of months over the past year or two I get sick. My stomach hurts, my back hurts, and occasionally I vomit or have diahrrea. It cannot be my appendix because I have had that removed. The sickness usually subsides after 24-48 hours. I have no idea what is wrong. But I have a theory. Another commenter suggested tracking what you've eaten right before it. I found that I eat an extreme amount of unhealthy food rigth before I get sick. This could be the problem so I suggest eating fresher, healthier foods (if it says it is healthier than don't  buy it because it really isn't). Good luck to all, and let's hope someone finds a diagnosis on this unknown illness.

Hello if you are still having problems, look up a condition called Cannabanoid Hypermesis Syndrome. Here is a quote about the signs of the syndrome, "recurrent episodes of severe nausea and intractable vomiting, and abdominal pain. Temporary relief of symptoms is achieved by taking a hot bath or shower" That sounds exactly like what you are describing

I'm so happy for you! However I am a five year sufferer of this undiagnosed stomach pain. I'm 48 now and had my Appendix out at age fourteen! sooo although this worked for you, it can't be my answer :(

HI I just finished reading all the entry's! I'm right now suffering and on day three so I know I'm close to the end.  I've had these attacks for the past five years. I'm 48, I've had two colonoscopies, two endoscopepes, a hysterectomy, one ovary removed, all in the past five years trying to solve this problem.  I definitely had endometriosis which they removed three years ago. I thought the pain would stop but a year and half later it was Back!  The ONLY thing I can attribute this pain (same as everyone describesm starts off small so I know it's coming in about five hours, then is bad, cramping, bloating, nausea, then pain gets really bad by day two , bed-ridden for 24 hours, then next day wake up feeling "better" like I was punched in stomach twenty times or rolled over by a truck)!  I just made an appt for April with an Integrative medicine practicioner in hopes of some answers.    I FOUND the following post on another website I wound up on after this one..... I'm going to look into these issues as I've heard about candida issues and such!

"i am a 47 year old male. I have had two ER visits and 2 w/urgent care as well as several PCP appointments. At first, they thought it was kidney stones, but then the severe pain moved to the abdomen and stayed there. The whole time, my body smelled really bad of ammonia and I had pain everywhere with fatigue, bad allergies with totally jammed up congestion and badly clouded thinking. I finally went to see a "gluten" type doctor. She did a stool test and it turned out to be a serious bacterial AND fungal infection with ammonia producing bacteria and lots of that horrid, painful candida yeast fungus in my intestines and total urinary tract organs. It appears this led to diverticulitis and eventually a near total intestinal shut down. This may have finally caused the bacterial problem. Now, I feel great after 100 mg Diflucan 2x daily. An amino urine testing suggested I have both a genetic and dietary problem. I am now on special vitamin supplements along with a greatly improved diet (w/no sugar). These methods help, along with exercise and deep, regular sleep. Always, always get tested for Candida and bacterial infection. FIND a doctor who has a clue and knows these types of GI problems REALLY exist.

I know this is going to sound random, but if your active, look up symtoms of fibromyalgia its a chronic joint pain problem. People who have its also expiriance that same pain at the V point of your ribs. You could be experiencing a flair up of that.

I am a 15 year old girl that has had this exact problem since I was 7. It normally starts in the afternoon or evening with a slight sensation that is difficult to describe. Sort of warm and fluttery in my upper abdomen. A few hours later I am getting more severe pain and by night time I am curled up in a ball on a pillow trying to find any relief. I find it hard to talk to anybody, move, or even breath deeply. The pain is absolutely excruciating. There is no relief after these pains begin except for sleeping and waking up the next morning in a pain I call jelly belly (it feels like I've been punched in the stomach, and it's less severe than the day before). It is almost impossibly to sleep with this problem though. I have had tests and just like you all I have been told nothing is wrong. The closest I have come to a possible diagnosis is when I had an endoscopy done, including a few biopsies during this procedure. The doctor told my parents while I was out cold that I had surely eaten after the time frame that I was not supposed to (during these tests you have to fast for a certain amount of time before). My mom told the doctor that there was absolutely no way I had eaten because she was with me the entire day and I did exactly what I was supposed to do. (I was even afraid to eat a piece of gum). The doctor said I must have a slow draining stomach then, because he could still see food in there. My diagnosis was that I have stomach migraines (yes, I've never heard of them either). I am scheduled to go see a neuroligist for treatment of these migraines when the bout comes on, and I highly suggest you talk to your doctor about these! Good luck to you all, I will let you know how this goes!!!
