I'm a 20 year old Female,
I regularly shave my pubic area, smooth, leave nothing. But sometimes I break out in little red dots, from the reaction of the razor. I have to be careful what kind of shaving cream I use anyways, even for my legs. I have sensitive, fair skin and shaving does irritate me at times. I have started using hair conditioner to shave with and it works so much better than any shaving cream/gel. The Last time I shaved, about 2 days ago, I was only left with 2 or 3 little red dots, they eventually go away(couple days), but somes times its alot worse than other times. I'm not sexually active, but sometimes I get so red, I worry if I was the person may think its some sort of STD...which it isn't at all. But just razor burn.
I was wondering if there is any other advice or what do other woman use when removing the hair down there? Do you wax? Should I? Or hair removal creams?

You could try waxing, but it's likely just that you have extremely sensitive skin! If you do try waxing, I would suggest seeking a professional and make sure they know how sensitive you are. There area waxes out there that are better for more sensitive skin. Many times a hard wax that isn't removed with a cloth is gentler because it does not adhere to the skin, just the hair.
You could also try a hair removal cream, but make sure you buy one that is made for the bikini area and don't ignore the sensitivity test!! You should try it on the inside of your arm and wait per the manufacturers instructions to see if you have a reaction to the product.
Another suggestion is laser hair removal - save you money and have it done if you can; it makes a world of a difference! :-)

Ok, this might sound weird but by girls turned me on to this. Apply an ice cube to the pubic area before you shave it o.O Hold it in place for about 20 seconds than shave that part. Move on to the next spot and do the same thing. Of course you would have already applied the shave creme/gel. I don't know what the ice does but i never have burn or break outs of any kind. I know it sounds, hum,er,uh, strange........but it really works.
Just make sure you lock the bathroom door as it would be quite hard to explain that one. LOL

Lol, my head is racing a million different ways....using a ice cube down there, but back on topic!
I have heard something along those lines, but after shaving for men, to rub their face once finished shaving, they rub an ice cube over their face, I think it does something with closing their pores on their face, since the temperature causes things to tighten up (like other parts). But I guess that would make sense before shaving too. I will try that....BTW....the bathroom door in our main bathroom (I still live at home) doesn't have a lock, so I just do all the stuff I need to in the shower, but the ice cubes might melt fast, I will figure something out.
Thank you!

Hi,
I think that cold (ice) eases the irritation of the skin when shaved. So you can try this. I'm a guy end when I shave my face I just use
Nivea Aftershave Extra Soothing Balm Sensitive, never did ice thing. :-)
Nivea works really good for me so I'm satisfied.
I don't thing that ice will melt that fast. You should be able to finish with few cubes of ice.

Hey bb all this talk about ice cubes reminds me of the Pam Smart trial that occurred in my local court house. If you Google 'Pam Smart' and 'ice cubes' you'll find what I mean. Not to mention the idea makes me feel the same as Canadian Girl described. Every guy I know was hoping that roll of film the jury was forced to look at would show up on the internet. Surprisingly the local paper printed most of them, but censored the only parts we all wanted to see.
You say your girls told you about the ice trick. I just want to say how wonderful it must be to have such a close relationship with your daughters. I think it's terrific how most young people today can talk freely about these things. Is that attitude a result of the sex education classes that my parents generation was vehemently against, and I wish I had been able to have? We suffered from so much misinformation when I was a teen.
I just wondered if anyone has tried using an electric shaver?
When I started shaving (my face) as a young boy I began with the traditional razor and it didn't feel good at all. That after shave lotion everyone said I should use was a real thrill. I was already working at the local TV shop fixing radios where we sold Schick electric shavers, so I tried one and never looked back. The only time I shaved with a razor after that was during army basic training. They didn't exactly let you bring many things from home.
I have only shaved my pubes twice. The first time was a disaster. I was going in for a vasectomy and they told me to shave before I came in. That surprised me because I thought they would do it. I figured it would be much easier for someone else (like a nurse) to do that to me considering that wrinkly pouch of skin that needed to become hairless, but they said, do it yourself. I was right! As I expected, I nearly butchered myself. I asked my wife, but she wasn't interested. She was afraid SHE would butcher that wrinkly thing too and didn't want me blaming her.
The second time I was 55 and going for surgery again. They were going to open my chest up like a cooked lobster and wanted all the hair below the neck off my body. At least they didn't expect ME to do it. They sent in a "Candy Striper" to do the job. That was pretty funny, she appeared to about sixteen. She started with me on my stomach while she did my back from my neck to my toes. Then she sheepishly told me I'd have to take off the gown and turn over. She started at my neck again and when she got down to my pubes she acted surprised and appologized for not allowing me a little modesty. Then she put a towel over that part, which she promptly folded over so she could do one side at time. Then she forgot to put it back as she continued down my legs. I nearly broke out laughing but I was afraid I might embarass HER.
My chest itched like crazy as the hair began growing out but my crotch was fine.
I guess she did an admirable job.
