I have been a sprinter in track for the past two years. Over the summer i have begun to run longer distances.....one mile to the Y. I was wondering if i go out for 30-45 minutes just jogging not running, would it hurt because i just started running long? Should i keep it short like 15 minutes?

Start at 15-20 minutes and work up from there. Vary the length of time you run each day also.

Yep. Not sure I have too much to add to that. Vary distances and start working your way to to longer times and longer distances.

Be careful not to increase too much too soon. I think the rule of thumb is 10% per week.
