I have a 4 months old baby. This is my first child and she suffers from a stomach virus. It began with a high temperature and I also had problem with breastfeeding. She has cramps all the time. We are going to the doctor the day after tomorrow, but I am worried that something might happen. Should my baby take fluids intravenously?
Yes, if the baby does not eat properly, she will have developmental problems and that has to be avoided. This means that if the baby does not eat, the doctor will recommend taking the fluids intravenously at some point. Try to feed her as much as you can but I suppose that her eating rhythm will be regulated as soon as the virus is gone.
