My daughter has had two surgeries done in her sinus cavity area. One started out as an operation to remove a tooth that went up instead of down. Doctor didn't see the cyst until he went in. Six months later at a follow up it was discovered growing again. Had another operation 5 days ago. Fingers crossed.

If you are using nose sprays...the anxiety could be from the steroid.

I have almost your exact symptoms and I just had an MRI. I have a sinus cyst (after months of getting every possible freaking test done) so I'm waiting to hear what the next step is!! I'm excited though! I've been like this for 9 months! Get an MRI :)
Just saw that you posted this a year ago. I hope your symptoms got resolved.

Hello,

Figured I'd add my situation to this. I've had a lot going on these past few recent months. I'm going to try to detail this well as I can, as maybe that could be helpful or familiar to someone else, and also to myself. I found myself reading through and seeing how familiar many things sounded!

I've been experiencing a worsen of symptoms and beginning of symptoms, that seemed to start in September. It seemed to all kick off with a random spell of dizziness and twitching that I woke up with. I forget if any other symptoms at that time yet (such as facial and arm/hand numbness, or other numbness) happened at first, though did experience that as well later. But I DID tell my boyfriend I felt "like I was dying". It took a couple hours for me to feel OK again.

From then on I would experience dizziness at random, but never lasted as long.  It's not been as bad, but turned into that I have head "pressure" sensations or dull aches off and on, that I experience EVERY DAY, and sometimes certain movements trigger it. (Such as looking up, then moving my head back to a normal position.) Lightheadedness at times. I have had some brain fog issues that started before then even, but have since, worsened. I have been having more trouble with finding words, as well. I have also had tinnitus at random for a while I suppose, but it ALSO worsened around the same time, and then about a month or so ago, it has now become CONSTANT IN MY RIGHT EAR.

Also not long after that first episode of random dizziness, few days or week later, was ill for over a week, maybe around two weeks, then at the end of that started experiencing a flare up and new issues to do with a perianal abscess I had surgically drained three years ago that has STILL never fully healed. :/ (hairline tract; may or may NOT be a fistula.) This goes into a whole other side of things and series of doctor visits and scary uncertainty of what I want to do or should do, different story. But certainly has NOT been fun coupled with the other strange and new issue! Something that lingered around a while from me being sick though, as it was a flu or some such, was a vaguely sore throat. Which was annoying. Probably dragged on for a month...

But yeah, so this all spurred on doctor visits, blood tests (I have a lot more I'd like to do to see about things, but what I did so far was all normal and good, except I've found I am vitamin D deficient, I guess.), then I ended up being referred to an ENT for the dizziness and tinnitus. Did a couple tests and was just told my hearing was normal, if not REALLY GOOD. I question HOW, I feel I can't hear worth anything compared to others...! Or maybe it's my concentration/focus is just bad? Sometimes I feel also a problem with comprehending things...not an issue I used to have longer ago! But became an issue over recent two years, more so now. Also did the tests where I had to wear goggles and they tracked my eye movements and blew air into my ears, think to check balance/inner ear. I tested normal.

Since the ENT tests came out normal, they and my primary care doctor wanted to do an MRI. So, just last Saturday I went in for one with and without contrast. I'll note also, going through everything, I've had a deal of anxiety, depression, irritability...  it's been a rough time not knowing what's going on, and fearing things like brain tumor(s), stroke, aneurysms , seizures, brain damage.. so I was a bit scared to see what the MRI would reveal.

So, it turns out, like all of you...my MRI was totally normal, brain is "normal", but they found I had a rather large cyst in my left maxillary sinus. It is taking up MOST the room. I found this out Monday, and then decided to go pick up a CD with my MRI images on it right away after work. The thing really is huge, it's no joke! Also appears I have a deviated septum. (so left nasal side has more space than right..)

Before finding this out, I was considering I developed having migraines, just without the huuuge headache, but with the dizziness, etc. My mom and her sister get migraines. Seemed possible. And hey, it may still be migraines, but now I am thinking and seeing that this must all surely be related to and caused by this huge sinus cyst?? And who knows how long its been in there and growing!

I got back into the ENT this morning, only to see an actual sinus doctor there instead of the PA-C lady. However, even after I explained things, he seemed to think my symptoms were incidental/coincidental, and had no relation to this cyst. (The PA-C lady had told me on the phone SHE thought they were related..) This makes NO sense to me!!!

So he wanted to prescribe me an allergy medicine (30 tablets of 180mg Fexofenadine) and  fluticasone (Flonase) 50 MCG/ACT Suspension. Then check in with me in 6 weeks, then maybe do a CT scan if it doesn't help at all. He didn't seem to really want to do surgery on me...not sure why? I am unsure I feel these medicines would do anything for me either, as it's so huge. Also, I am hesitant and apprehensive about taking the nasal spray, as it is a type of corticosteroid, which I have had an issue with taking one once. Had a very bad experience. (it was pills for an allergic reaction issue I was having... had a fairly bad reaction to them I feel, I was left feeling drained, all my muscles sore, incredibly weak and tired, and then of course, the expected weight gain and whatnot..I think more issues I don't even remember now, this was nearly 3 years ago now, also.) Also concerns about taking it with my perianal issues, as I have things a bit unresolved there, I am afraid steroid medication may flare up infection there. I'm not fully sure what's all going on in that area. :) Also I already experience head pressure..oh, and something I did nto mention yet-- EYE PRESSURE! I saw it warns it can cause intracranial and ocular pressure, and I think that maybe taking it if you already have ocular pressure COULD be a bad idea potentially?  So there is that too.

On the ocular pressure note, I've had issues with it feeling like there is a "pressure" or something behind my right eye for over a year now, and I'd say it's gotten worse sometime since the onset of the migraine type issues and etc issues! It's been fairly bothersome to me! It's a problem daily. Sometimes it does not feel as bad, other times I can hardly focus -- it feels like pressure behind my eye or something in my eye, closer to my nose and bottom half. Kinda drives me nuts. It definitely affects things like me making eye contact with people or focusing on talking to them! It's been awful. I feel like this may be caused by pressure from having this cyst as well. I see on this thread I am NOT the only one with a left maxillary sinus cyst with right eye pain/pressure.  So kind of in a weird place now..I scheduled with my primary care doctor to be seen next Monday to see what she thinks and maybe if I can be referred to a neurologist, maybe an entirely different ENT (OR I will seek out one to see on my own..) for a second opinion. I also want to see an eye doctor soon (this one is kind of pending on my tax return..). I am in a need for new glasses anyway, also this can rule out any eye disease/problems (or tell me I have one..) so I can tell other doctors its caused by SOMETHING ELSE, such as the cyst, probably! I'm even wondering if it's the cause of my one ear tinnitus, as well?  I am unsure if to bother with the medications, as I am afraid more harm than help...but then again, if they CAN actually shrink it at all, I should. Problem is I don't know if that's even possible with how big mine is. I'm still, again, afraid I will not react well to the nasal spray. Also I have no idea about surgery. I lean towards that this thing NEEDS to come out!! But I am afraid also if surgery could potentially actually leave me in an even worse place.. ugh!!  I was really hoping by the last page of this thread I'd see more answers and updates from people who said they were going to have surgery. I would really LOVE to hear from any of you guys and how you are doing now, and if it ended up helping things or making things worse. Would love details about it! Or anyone else that has done medication? (I see I did NOT get prescribed an antibiotic like some.) Anybody have any luck with nasal spray or allergy meds? How many other people have such a large cyst, also?

Hi, in 1998 I was diagnosed with closed nasal passages. As result of mri, 2 sinus cysts were identified, large one in left sinus smaller one in right. Dr. Recommended to leave them alone. Now in 2017, I believe the cyst didn't go away, I believe it ruptured. Now the sinus fluid is draining into my gums, lips, tongue, cheecks, etc. Have been to 2 ents, dentist and gp, to no help. Have even been told by ent " not possile" and tried to blame it on dental issues. Dentist sees nothing. Ct scan shows no bone damage. Yet for the past 3 months my sinus on the left is leaking into my flesh. It is now causing my right sinus to clog with thick mucus. There is no pain at the moment just the feeling of water running in my face and a different air flow pattern. Ent 2 says there is no test to show an open sinus. HELP.

Hello. I was experiencing the most terrible pain at the base of my skull on the left hand side, stabbing headache pain on the head above the ear, loss of hearing in my left ear and pain behind my left eye. I had an MRI done. It came back with a mucus retention cyst in the left maxillary and indented molars ( that never dropped) piercing the maxillary sinus. The ENT said not to worry about it. 8 years later... the pain is worse, the stabbing headaches have to be the worst. Almost like the most terrible spasm. I have a blocked left ear, lymph nodes up below the ear, pain in the left face and behind the left cheekbone. The pain behind the left eye is almost unbearable at times. I get a sinus infection badly now for several days. Weaping eye, running nostril, pain at the base of the left skull, blocked up, pain down into my shoulder, stabbing pain in the head, swollen left eyelid and I can't smell properly through my left nostril. My left eyesight is sometimes blurred and hard to focus with. My jaw hurts if I press it near the ears. Always suffered from sore throats and get flu just looking at someone and it always goes to an infection and they just kept on giving me antibiotics!!!!

I realise how much it has been affecting and poisoning my body for so long. ! Going to find an ENT who will remove it fast! Don't listen to the Dr's when they say cysts don't cause any symptoms. My only concern is how big it is now and if it is benign or not! What a waste of a painful 8 years !!!!!!

I had a cyst removed from my left nasal cavity 4 days ago. I was put under general anesthesia and was prescribed antibiotics and Percocet for the pain. The bleeding hasn't stopped out of my nose yet but it is supposed to soon. I was experiencing soreness, dizziness, and overall bad habits. I couldn't sleep comfortably and in fact had a disgusting mucous like liquid leaking into my mouth constantly. I would wake up and spit out brown and red liquid and would experience bad breath and taste throughout my day. I am happy as can be that I finally did something. My ENT here in Missouri was great and informative. I wish you all the best.

I have the same... Thought I was going mad, no doctor understands me I have pain, pressure in my ears, vertigo lightheadedness and tick sounds when I turn my head to fast. I live in a world that feels unreal unnatural if it wasn't for my wife helping me through this I don't know where I'd be. This has been going on 24hrs a day 7 days a week for 4 years. I just found out I 2 have a cyst, or something in my sinus... We are all brothers and sisters in this and I know how hard it is to talk to doctors about it. I've been on this journey with you and hope everyone one day feels normal again.

Military Mike

I have a cyst on my left sinuse cavity as well I have been taking predisonin and Flonase which neither has really helped much .. I have always experienced dizziness but this is different I had a migrain with Auras that set all this off I had a CT scan that detected a cyst 2.5X2.5 cm in size I now experience a woozy feeling almost like motion sickness all the time and unsteadiness my vision has became horrible and my panic/anxiety is through the roof I have surgery scheduled for oct 31 for the removal of this cyst it’s the size of a quarter and has taken up all my sinus cavity and is now trying to push out my nasal canal my ENT was suspecting some inner ear disturbances as well but he is thinking this cyst is the culprit of everything I have going on but I am sooo beyond ready for some relief it’s been a long time coming and now with newer symptoms my panic has me feeling like I don’t want to function normally for not knowing when all this will hit again and the severity so home is my safe place I’m hoping this helps with some of your questions :)
