I have suffered for 20 years from sinus pressure to the point that it is hard to distinguish which part is CFS and what part is Sinus problems and how they relate to each other.
I saw 5 different ENT specialists who all said there is nothing wrong with my Sinuses. I took antibiotics many times over the years, but now I believe that I never had sinusitis any of those times.
Some of you on this thread have said that you dont have the classic blocked nose and antibiotics only worked temporarily. That was what I found.
Recently my Dr has prescribed me a drug called Flupenthixol which has proven useful in the treatment of CFS. It is an anti-psychotic drug used for mild depression. As soon as I took the drug my sinus symptoms disappeared over night and I felt fresh on waking for the first time in years.
Anyone that is experiencing 'Sinusitis' and isn't getting anywhere should try this drug. I know it seems a strange direction to take; but I assure that it is worth a try. You may be astonished (and possibly confused) if it does improve your symptoms.
If anyone decides to try it I would be grateful if you could post the results for me to read.
Obviously if you have nasel polyps etc this isn't applicable. This is for those people that have recurrent sinusitis who after despite investigation no problem can be found.

I am amazed at how many people suffer from sinus related problems and all the misery it causes. I've felt for years that I was always coming down with a cold; for three or so days at a time I'd have headaches, a weird tingling in my throat, neck aches, body aches and tingling, fatigue, irritability that bordered on psychosis; gunky, watery, stuffy nose. How depressing.
So many fine particulates in our air, so much plastic and fragrance around us. It's little wonder so many of us are a mess: our main line of defense is constantly overloaded, over-sensitized, and not working correctly.
I've just started using a neti pot and I must say that, even after the first wash, I was convinced that I should do this every day. It's really making an enormous difference.

I have to share my information in order to help others......
I researched this terrible condition to no end and came up with some sort
of relief. It may not work for everyone but it is called "Singular" .
It brought me out of such a clouded state of mind and seemed to clear
the inflammation in my sinuses and swelling around my eyes.
I hope this helps someone in their terrible time of frustration.

I've had chronic sinus problems for the last five years or so. I've seen plenty of doctors and ENT's and have given up on them. They all give me a similar diagnosis no matter what I tell them. I've had surgery because I had a deviated septum, but that didn't help. The last year my sinus problems have been so bad to the point where I want to #*$&in kill someone! I started looking at some natural health remedies and here's what I've been doing that seems to help. #1 Try to eat healthy, or at least keep a journal of your diet and activities and maybe you'll find a correlation with your bad and good days. #2 Boil water, put some Euculyptus oil in it, a towel over the pot and your head and breath it in for a while. #3 Look into Bromelain and Quercitin. These are naturally occurring minerals that can be find in pineapple etc. and are supposed to calm swelling down etc. Look 'em up and see if you think they might help you. #4 Get your sleep!!! I knnow it can be incredibly difficult to sleep, but do what you can. Also, if you tend to drink a lot, try to cut down a little and see what this does. One last thing you can try... Avoid wheat (gluton) for about 3-5 days. It's a long shot but I'm sure your willing to go to deperate measures to feel like our normal self again. Hope this helps ya in some way!

Hi,
I don't normally write on blogs but I have also suffered with sinus problems and understand the pain and side affects that go along with them.
One piece of advise I can pass on, that helped me no end was to see an Osteopath.
I promise, well for me anyway, it has worked better than any medication perscribed to me.
I hope this helps as least one person as I know how frustrating it can be. It may take a few sessions but it works.
I won't say I have never suffered again but a nasal spray now is very effective and the puffiness, head-aches and all other symtoms are gone!!!!
Best of luck.....

I too suffered with these symptoms. Turns out I HAVE severe Gastoesophageal Reflux Disease, also known as GERD's. You don't have to have heartburn symptoms to be suffering from GERD's. All I can tell you is at night acids (moisture) will come back up and of course they go to your sinus cavities!!!!!

Hi sounds like I had the same thing feeling lothargic sleeping and still feeling tired sounds like you have TMJ disorder. The symptoms you describe all seem to fit the bill so find a specialist and see what they say. I doubt it is anything else because tempro mandibular problems can cause headaches, stuffy ears, tired blurry eyes, dizziness, temple headaches, nasal headaches the list goes on. Hope its been a helpful.

Hi, I'm pretty sure that, as the doctors said, you have acute sinusitis. It has some of the strangest symptoms that you would never think to connect with it. The pressure around sinus cavaties is pretty obvious, but I also get horrible tooth and jaw aches, neck pain and stiffness, painful eyes that leak mucus, and horrible headaches. At this moment I'm taking sudafed sinus pressure medicine. It doesn't relieve the pain immediately, but it will after a few days. I am currently suffering all of the afore mentioned symptoms and came on this site looking for a quick fix. Yet as I search I realize that you have to start taking the medicine as soon as you start to feel the onset of symptoms. For me its usually a stiff neck that gets my attention. Just pay attention to your body and the signs of a sinus attack. As I said earlier if you wait until you feel crappy then it will take a few days of constant meds to start to feel better. I took the sudafed once so far and I still feel the sinus pressure (probably because its time for another dose) but at least my eye has stopped leaking mucus. If you don't really like sudafed any brand of sinus pressure medicine should help you. After receiving antibiotic after antibiotic from the doctors, I've resigned to just keeping my money and always have a box of sinus medicine handy. I've had this problem for as long as I can remember and this is the best advice I can come up with, unless you want surgery. I hear it works, but I decided to pass on that option. Also make sure its not sinus and allergy medicine. I will only buy sinus pressure medicine for this problem. Well gotta go my eye is starting to leak again. I hope this helps you some!

Please go see an Ear Nose Throat doctor immediately! I suffered your exact symptom for over 10 years. You have chronic sinusitis and antibiotics aren't working. You need endoscopic sinus surgery. They will remove the infection physically. I had this surgery done just yesterday. You will finally be relieved!!! They will do a CT scan of your sinuses to know exactly where the infection is and how much. Don't delay this! Your quality of life is at stake.

I have been suffering from sinusitis for 38 years. I am a 57-year-old male. I've had CT scans and MRI's and, well, you mention it. I had sinus surgery done in 1977 and again in 1995. I just had a procedure known as balloon sinuplasty done on Dec. 3, 2010. I felt great for about two weeks and then the constant pressure, burning, itching started in my sinuses again. It is horrible feeling of constant itching and pressure -- not to mention sneezing anywhere from 15 to 30 times a day -- and it's not even allergy season for me! (April/May and September). My ENT (the one that did the ballon sinuplasty does not have an answer). I have been on nasal steroid sprays, pills, etc. -- you name it for a very long time. I stopped about a year ago thinking this stuff cannot be good over a long period of time. Please note: my symptoms have become worse since the balloon sinuplasty. Is there anyone out there that is suffering from chronic irritated, itching, swollen sinuses? And if so . . . have you found relief in some manner? I use a saline sinus rinse every morning and a natural saline spray a few times a day. Very little relief. Please help.

I've sufferred from sinusitis for over 30 years and continue to experience all of the symptoms that most of you do, especially pain and pressure behind the eye. Two sinus surgeries later, I can actually feel and hear popping sounds as my sinuses twitch and pulse. Sadly, the surgeries did nothing for me other than relieve some of the post-nasal drip. Before my problem was diagnosed as chronic sinusitis, the constant and recurring headaches were misdiagnosed as migraines and was ultimately prescribed IMITREX for the pain. I would personally say that Imitrex is heaven sent. Although it is not a cure for sinusitis, it relieves all the pain associated with my sinusitis and enables me to go to work and function as a normal human being for about 24 hours. I must also mention that I’m a chronic teeth grinder and was prescribed to wear a night guard to alleviate facial/jaw pain. I continue to hope and pray for a cure for chronic sinusitis.
