I feel for all of you.I too am a sufferer it's unbelievable how unwell you can get. I can't even wear perfume anymore. I take nurofen on regular basis , use saline, nasal spray and antibiotics. I have recently read about colloidal silver and am going to try it.I hope it works and will let you all know.In the meantime keep well and know you are not alone.

You could ask to get a swab taken (to have a lab test, kind of like swabbing for strep throat). I was miserable for years before my ENT doctor did that, to find out I had a staph infection. It was an antibiotic-resistant infection in  my sinuses that needed a stronger type of medicine to get rid of. I had two rounds of Doxycyclene, which helped a little, but I felt much better after some Clindamycin. My sinusitiss is still so bad I need surgery, but getting the swab done was worth it so I knew what was wrong.

Another thing you can try is organic Apple Cider Vinegar (it won't completely get rid of an infection, but it will make you feel better). Either pour a teaspon in a glass of water or juice (you MUST dilute it) several times a day, or put it in a sinus rinse along with the sinus rinse salt mixture, or put some in a pot of boiling water to inhale the steam. As silly as it sounds, inhaling steam for 10-15 minutes at a time helps relieve the pressure in the meantime (again, it won't get rid of a bacterial infection like antibiotics will).

i would not take antibiotics as this will lead you to weaken your immunity system. i would use natural means to alleviate the pressure. i use ginger powder to open my swollen sinus passages so i can drain. i recently added a sinus nozzle to my waterpik and it works great. i place warn saline solution with a small amount of ginger powder in the solution. its VERY intense but it works. i may have to spray a few times. but eventually the sinuses open and begin to drain. i would not recommend decongestants as they dry the sinuses and then your body over produces sinuses to counter the dryness.

Hi - I had chronic sinus infections all my life.  About 10 years ago, my primary doc sent me to ENT.  They x-rayed my sinuses and found that the opening to one cavity was so narrow that it wouldn't allow the cavity to drain properly.  They operated to widen the opening and I have not had a sinus infection since.  I went from multiple infections a year to none in 10 years.  For me this was a huge success. This is not an easy surgery recovery wise.  There was a lot of pain and discomfort but it was absolutely worth it.  Anyone who has lived their entire life with this issue knows the impact it has on quality of life.  The pain, pressure and always feeling tired, etc.,etc., etc.,  can make you miserable.  I no longer have to deal with those problems and would recommend this surgery for anyone who's only problem is a cavity opening that is too narrow.  However, before having this surgery you should check various message boards for other peoples experiences.  There are many different issues that call for surgery and perhaps some are more prone to post surgery problems than others so you should search for posts that include diagnosis or reason for surgery ; deviated septum, polyps, etc.

You'd think this would be needless to say but it most likely is not. If you smoke, the first thing you should do is quit smoking. If I'd known how painful and uncomfortable the recovery would be, I would have quit smoking before deciding to have the surgery even though it would be most likely that I would need the surgery anyway. Quitting isn't easy but it really is mind over matter assisted with available smoking cessation aids. Ridding yourself of sinus infections for the rest of your life or smoking. Seems like an easy call.

A lot of the symptoms you are describing are consistent with hypothyroidism or an under active thyroid. A simple blood test can tell you if that is the case.

I just started using the cinnamon leaf, clove buds and thyme. I've only done it 4 times, so far, and I can feel that it's working, already. Just wondering tho, is it normal for it to feel like it's burning? The first time I did it, it didn't, but then the next time it did, and then was even worse, the next time. I tried using less, but it still burns. Maybe this is because my infection is so bad?
