Hey Guys/Gals,

This is my understanding: I'm are not getting regular, steady bile released like when I had a gall bladder. So the fat from my diet is not being processed as it used to be. My doctor recommended something called Beta Plus. It has Ox Bile in it to supplement what my gallbladder used to put out. I can tell when I don't take it because my nose turns into an oil slick. I buy mine from a couple of different vendors on Amazon. I'm not a doctor, I can't recommend anything, but this worked for me.

I have not had my gallbladder removed yet. But I'm pretty sure it hasn't been working normally for years. I get itchy bumps on my face arms and chest. I've recently started using hydrocortisone cream on my itchy face. It is incredibly dry, so I know it's different. But I thought maybe it'd be worth a try. Itchy skin and rashes is a symptom of gallbladder disease.

Hello I had my gallbladder removed on November 21 of 2016 I had a really clear face and no acne. A few months in after my surgery I started having a lot of stomach issues and right side pain.Around this time I got diagnosed with IBS irritable bowel sydrome by my doctor and fatty liver.A little info about myself I am allergic to dairy/lactose and since the removal of my gallbladder I developed a sensitivity to gluten. As the months went by my face started to get very oily and then one day I just woke up and I was having the worst breakouts of my life. I was trying everything and nothing seemed to work so I went on Minocycline I took a dosage of Hundred for three months . The minocycline worked but as soon as I went off mino it got worse so much worse my flareups progressed into cystic acne. I didn’t go back on mino instead I took a holistic approach that required a lot of research and now my acne is 90% clear. This is my advice with no gallbladder the body has a much more difficult Time metabolizing so it’s affecting your liver and gut flora. If you have been on antibiotics what they do is damage the normal balance of a healthy gut flora so it’s best to stop the antibiotics and start taking solaray mycrobiome probiotics 100 billion urgent care or any type of probiotics that claims to rebuild healthy gut flora after the use of antibiotics. Other supplements I use for gut and liver are milk thistle, dandelion, vitamin e-1000 IU, Zinc Monomethionine(more adsorption) 50mg, candidase(fights yeast and keeps yeast in gut flora balanced), Vitamin D3-5000 IU. I also started drinking green shakes with unsweetened almond milk. The greens I use in the green shake are kale, mustard green, dandelion, Swiss chard, fresh basil, plain parsley. It’s a pretty hard to swallow but this drink it helps the body detox and help the organs detox toxins. Because you don’t have the gallbladder the liver is doing all the work so want to keep the liver healthy and not saturated with fat and when I mean fat I mean sugars. Sugars also come in the form of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates turn into sugar if they are not being burned what you want to do is not completely cut out carbohydrates but have lower intake with some exercise plus adding more Alkaline greens to your diet. Sugar detox helps. liver detox helps it take a couple months to see results. The green shake it to be taken 2-3 times a day amounts of times you should be drinking it. Stay away from fruit smoothies or adding fruit into these smoothies you want the green shake to be strong and potent to appropriately detox. As for the skin care I use rosehip seed oil for acne scar, Aztec healing clay mask with apple cider vinegar that contains the mother for active pimples, and grape seed oil 100% pure cold pressed to moisturizer sometimes whipped shea seed butter unrifined. the best approach to an oily face is to approach it with non Comedogenic oils with a rating of 0, for the best results buy quality oils only that are well kept and don’t go rancid. I was skeptical about putting oil on my face but with trial and error I found one that works for me. Do research on the oil cleaning method it’s a holistic approach to skincare it works learn the basics by learning how putting this essential oils on the face goes skin deep. More questions I be happy to help and answer

I have had the same exact problems for over a decade now.
Only antibiotica help when it gets too bad.
I also believe it is some kind of an infection I contracted during the surgery.

It's good to know that i am not crazy. The same thing happens tome. Doesn't matter what i eat...i always end up in the bathroom. My skin, especially on my hands have become old and wrinkly since the surgery. People always used to complement me on my beautiful hands...now i feel like i should always hide them.

It's interesting to read all of the different experiences. It would appear that those who previously had bad skin have vast improvements in skin conditions once their GB's were removed. Those who had great skin experience the opposite. I am one of the latter. Always had great skin. No breakouts. No anything. GB taken out. Oily skin on face. Wrinkly skin on hands. Run to the bathroom after i eat. Still have pains sometimes on the right towards the back. This completely SUCKS!! Sonia in NY

That was so nice of you to share that; I too am suffering from painful and awful acne on my face, mostly my chin. Mondo blemishes that take forever to heal....I googled this and was not surprised that there were many people complaining about it. Apple Cider Vinegar is indeed magical-- THANK YOU so much for sharing this tip; I really appreciate it SO much!

Question: How are you doing with this symptom, one year later?

Sending best wishes and love to everyone suffering from this!

I had my gallbladder out this last Friday, I have had previous acne issues but within the last yr or so I've got it under control. Since my surgery my face is so oily and breaking out bad on my chin, neck, forehead, and temple area. I know this doesn't pertain to acne but just curious if anyone else has experienced calf and knee pain after this surgery, I do have a blood clotting disorder and on blood thinners, ultrasounds were done and no clots but I've had this constant pain on my calf since I woke up from surgery

Hello, I know no one has posted here for some time but I wanted to offer some insight for anyone who is still interested/ struggling. I had the same experience many of you are quoting- excessively oily skin post gallbladder removal in my early 20's and the onset of angry hormonal acne which left long lasting marks along with a myriad of other hormonal issues.

What is often not mentioned, is that the gallbladder plays an important role (more specifically, bile) in removing excess hormones from the body. Without enough bile (or good quality bile) the hormones are reabsorbed (when they should end up in the toilet!).
This plays havoc on our bodies, especially for those who were already estrogen dominant before surgery.

Getting these hormones under control is essential in getting oil/ sebum production under control and there are some very specific foods and supplements that target removing these toxins from the body, thus improving overall health. I'll link a helpful video I came across recently & hope you find it useful. Also, Googling the links between excess hormones and gallbladder removal shows some interesting articles and research which explain the science behind the problem.

On final thing that isn't mentioned on this specific topic, but is spoken about elsewhere in discussions on acne (especially that driven by androgens) is rishi mushroom. I found this supplement helped drastically with oil production, acne and even thicken my hair! I can't take these anymore due to another medication I take but I would highly recommend them. Tho, don't take them if you're on any other kind of blood thinning medication.

Alternatively, spironocaltone can be prescribed by a dermatologist, which also works to reduce the pesky hormones which cause the oil and acne. I had brilliant results on this but I worry that such medication (with the potential of other side effects) is treating the symptoms and not the cause- hence, now I'm working to help my liver through diet/ supplements.

Best wishes.

Thank you so much for your input and following up after all that time. I had my gb removed too and due to not doing it sooner I compromised my pancreas, but after 5 day stay in the hosp. it healed. Now my face gets oily too.. i had dry skin before so it kind is a good thing for me i guess cause I am 51. I am sorry for the rest of the ppl that is not a positive. But it is def due to gb surgery.
