I got mine out and the same night my forehead was greasy. Now its been 4 days and my face is oily daily. 48 years old NEVER had this issue. I guarantee its a side effect from the surgery.

I struggled with cystic acne for about a decade, which concurred with my stomach issues. After getting my gallbladder out my skin suddenly cleared ! I cannot find any literature that specifically covers acne and it’s association with gallbladder removal, but I wish we had more scientific knowledge on the issue. Not that I’m complaining, I love my skin now, but I’m sorry you’re having the opposite problem.

I too suffered from cystic pimples especially on my chin. Embarrassing and painful. Sometimes on forehead and near mouth. I’m a 41 year old male that always had oily skin. Now it’s lessened. Still oily but not as much. I am lactose intolerant but still indulge in ice cream etc. I had my gb removed a month ago and I haven’t seen my usual cystic acne. It’s weekly for me. Or was. That’s what brought me to this forum. My gallbladder felt like it was always inflamed. For years. Maybe that was contributing to my cortisol, stress and hormones which caused my acne. Now that my gb is out, not as much inflammation. Except for my dairy issues. It’s funny though because my EoE isn’t acting up either. I asked my surgeon if I needed to go back on omeprozole to treat my eoe and he said I should wait and see if removing my gallbladder will help. I haven’t had an episode with my Eoe. Even with dairy in my diet…. Daily. So, I dont need Prilosec anymore. So far. Like he knew there’s a correlation between the two. I feel like removing my gb helped with a few issues I had. I’m sorry for the ones who had an opposite reaction. I know it’s still early but things have changed for me.

Hello.... Its true...since there is no more gallbladder to digest and absorbs healthy fats and vitamins A,D,E and K...your skin will become dry and also you cannot eat high fatty foods anymore as the body cannot digest it since your bile production is very low..... I had my gallbladder removed a week ago...and I am taking ox bile to compensate for my lack thereof...

Your gallbladder processes fats and fiber. With it removed your body is probably having a hard time processing the fats and fiber. I'm thinking if you are getting oil slicks you should do a low fat diet and take enzymes. Not all enzymes are the same. Some digest protein and nothing else. So you'll want to make sure you get enzymes that digest fat and fiber. Depending on how well your gallbladder was functioning before it was removed is probably the difference between getting oily skin or it clearing up after the surgery.
