Why does a small amount of alcohol make me so sick?
I have only drank twice this year (2013). Both times I consumed a small amount of alcohol and became very sick. 1st: 2 glasses of white wine. 2nd: 2 vodka and diet 7-up. Both times I ate, got sick. The sick starts a few hours after I drink and goes on every 10 minutes for up to 10 hours, dry heaves, bile, etc... This is on a very small amount of alcohol.
Obviously, I can't drink. I still want to know why this happens. I'm not allergic to wheat, no gluten issues, not a diabetic, no genetic issues w/alcohol, no stomach probs that I know of. I do have IBS though. I'm a nervous high-strung person with anxiety and bad restless leg syndrome and insomnia.
It all started about 2 years ago and I rarely drink anymore. I was a big drinker in my 20's and 30's, very social, a party animal and I loved it! It was a lot of fun. Back then, I never had any problems other than the ocassional hang-over if I drank a whole lot; by a lot I meant 12-15+ drinks/shots in a night out. I've always know that cheap or bottom shelf liquor makes me ill, it always has. If I drank good quality, I never got sick.
Why now??
Your liver might be messed up, go get it checked out. I read somewhere that you can become intolerant to alcohol if your liver is damaged. So after you drink you will get sick, because the liver cant take it anymore.
