hello, for a few months now ive had this pinkish bump at the base of my penis. ive had a girlfriend for a while whos been tested before we got together and she was clean. before her, i hadnt had sex for almost a year, but the last girl i was with was kind of dirty (i think?). i would say that the bump didnt appear for about 6-8 months after i had sex with her. it started off as just a bump, but i became increasingly nervous and one day playing with it, it popped. it looked like a normal pimple that i would have on my face with the white pus and such. since then, the bump has remained the same except now theres a small indent in the middle. one time i was messing with it and it filled up again over the course of a few days with puss and i popped it again and the swelling went down back to "normal". i can feel a hard bump underneath the skin and it never hurts unless i really squeeze it hard and irritate it. any ideas what this is? im kinda nervous cuz it looks kind of weird and idk what my girlfriend thinks but then again ive done research and i dont have any symptoms of stds besides this one bump. any thoughts would be appreciated so my mind can stop racing all the time about this. thanks.
If the bump is small, it sounds like a pimple that may not have completely surfaced. It is best to try not to squeeze it, though I know it's tempting! Instead try applying warm compresses to it (just a washcloth with water as hot as you can stand WITHOUT burning). That will often help bring it to the surface and help the pus dissipate. Since it's at the base of your penis it could also be an ingrown hair. It doesn't sound like an STD because to my limited medical knowledge herpes and such usually present with multiple bumps or blisters, not just one. Before applying the first hot compress if you do it, check to be sure the skin on and right around the bump is not unusually warm or hot to the touch because if it is that could indicate infection, at which point you probably should not mess with it and just go to the doctor. If it doesn't get any better within a few weeks or so, becomes significantly more painful... especially if the pain occurs even without you messing with it, or the skin gets red around it also without you messing with it, and/or you do squeeze it and the pus is yellowish or greenish or something you should get it checked out just to be safe and to see if it's a cyst, which requires a doctor to remove for it to go away, because there is a membrane that forms a sac around the cyst and is not something you'd be able to remove (or even try to) yourself. But just from your description alone it SOUNDS harmless. Just watch it to be sure!
