Hi there

It depends on type of surgery . As far as its not abdominal its all fine as smoming and using marijuana releases carbon monoxide into your blood so it might slow down the healing time other than that its all fine give a go cheers

I smoked every day after my ACL and ankle reconstructions. I would way rather smoke weed than take an opioid for pain!

It's illegal because it was demonized for so long because of ignorance. That and Harry Salinger wanted to get rid if Mexicans..google it. As studies can now be done on it..they are finding many benefits..hence the legalization in some states. Also..comparing that to giving someone crack shows the extent of your ignorance. Time for some education.

This person is right on the button he says "in fact, dilate the blood vessels " which means that blood flows more readily and thereby heals faster. It's like everything else if you don't abuse it it won't hurt you

I had a colon resection 12 days ago and I've been either vaping or smoking cannabis since I was released from the hospital day 3. My recovery has been unbelievably fast and the cannabis has really helped with the pain. The pain meds they give you are so much worst on your system than a little herb.

I'm a firm believer that it's not only ok but also helped me through this hard time.

Tobacco is a whole nother story. Just stay away.

I recently had three fibroids removed from my uterus and was very honest with my doctors at my pre-op appointment. I smoke weed daily. It was three days before my surgery and I was told that weed in your system can affect anesthesia and was told to stop that day prior to going under. It's now been 6 days since my surgery and although I'm on bed rest, incredibly bored and would love to smoke, it's not a good idea for the healing process. Will it kill you, probably not but give your body the best opportunity to heal itself. Plus in my case, laughing and coughing hurts so bad it's not worth the risk

I am very very surprised that with so much information available that someone would not know why it is illegal or just ask the question with out doing any of their own research. Cannabis has killed no one Ever. It is illegal because of several political reasons. Main reason it is illegal is because back in the 30’s William Randolph Hearst owned a lot of newspapers and owned the paper mills that printed the paper. Hemp (which of course is not exactly the same thing as marijuana but is commonly associated and lumped together with it) was competing with his paper production so he rallied his friends in power (government and other large companies such as dupont) and finally made it illegal in 1937. When the case was originally brought before congress the prosecutor (Anslinger) claimed that it caused violence, attacks, delerium, death and was only used by poor black people (jazz musicians I believe). When the topic came back up in the 50’s the same guy (Anslinger) told congress a totally different story. Now his tale said that it should be illegal because it caused mellowness and apathy. He said the communists would try to use it against our youth in a bid to corrupt America. Now a days it remains illegal because it is a medicine for so many things. If people just used cannabis then it would cut into pharmaceutical profits.

Ok Ima stop U right ther buddy coz I smoke weed everyday. The key word here is "smoking", that thins the smaller blood vessels reducing blood flow and on top of that, the blood will be mixed with carbon monoxide. This I'm 100% sure.... therefore recovery will be affected to
An extent,

Furthermore, thin vessel could lead to blood clots, which could lead to death. The bottom line is NO SMOKING AFTER SURGeRY... Period!
