Off and on for a while now, I go through spells of feeling like there is something on the back of my throat when I eat. It feels sort of like it would if I had pepper on it. It only occurs when I eat and not every time I eat. I go through several days where I do it. Then, I'll go for weeks without doing it. When it happens, I have to cough several times after every bite like I'm trying to cough it up, but there doesn't seem to be anything there. I have to have something to drink after every bite to keep from coughing myself to death. The only other symptom is that twice I coughed so hard that I actually vomited. It was mostly mucous. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? It's so bad at times that I don't want to eat at all because of the coughing, much less, go out to eat because it is so embarrassing.
