I am having irregular menstrual cycles from the begging of my adult life. I am 27 now and I got married six months ago. I am thinking of having a baby but I am concern because of my periods. I guess that I have to find a cause of irregular bleeding .My gynecologist suggested that I should have an ultrasound, actually sonohysterogram. As I have never had sonohysterogram before, I was wondering if anyone could tell me something useful because it doesn’t sound safe to me.

Hey don’t worry. I have had a sonohesterogram done and it is a perfectly safe. It is now in modern medicine very important step in diagnosing a woman with irregular bleeding.
Sonohysterogram is accurate vaginal ultrasound in which salt water is injected into the uterus using a very thin plastic catheter. It is little uncomfortable but painless. Depending of the results of sonohysterogram, you’ll know if there is a need for a biopsy or something else.
