Hello I have just joined the forum and surprised to learn that so many women have the same as me. I was diagnosed with L S a few years ago and have other problems like you. Is the cream that you use a steroid cream and do you use it every day. I have had different advice, some docters say use sparingly others say every day. I find sex impossible.

I thought I had a torn perineum. I asked my husband to look at it and it described it as a small tear or cut. So I put rubbing alcohol on it (which was very stupid) but the pain and irritation was unbearable. After using the rubbing alcohol one too many times, I began using Neosporin on the cut. It was a lot more soothing than the rubbing alcohol but it didn't seem to heal it. The rubbing alcohol made urination very painful. I started to get worried that I might have an STD so my husband took me to the ER. Since the UTI and pregnancy test came back negative, they did a pelvic exam and determined that my torn perineum was actually a hemorrhoid and they also diagnosed me with a bacterial infection. Now I'm on antibiotics. I also wanted to add that it still burns when I pee but I tested negative for chlamydia and the dr ruled out herpes. Do not use rubbing alcohol on your vagina. It's very sensitive down there

I have the issue of a recurring perenium skin tear and my doctor just prescribed me medication to cure a 'bacterial infection' as everything I've tried for yeast infections doesn't seem to help. Besides, I don't really have the symptoms of a yeast infection, except the 'cut' after sex, which is often misdiagnosed as the consequence of a yeast infection. The name of the medicine to cure the bacterial infection is METRONIDAZOLE. I just started using it, I will keep you guys posted on how it goes.

Please consult with your gynecologist, and if you don't get help or an answer, change doctors! I was misdiagnosed for two years and suffered until I found a doctor that diagnosed the condition correctly. I have Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus, which is actually a skin disorder, it just happens to be affecting the skin of the vulvar area. Proper care of the skin is essential! A mild steroid ointment should be prescribed and depending on the severity of the condition, can be used daily until the area heals and then can be used every other day to twice a week. Sitz baths in warm water with baking soda can bring relief from your symptoms as well as using a small amount of frozen peas in a Ziploc bag as a cold compress. I hope this information helps someone! There are different forms of Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus, so please, share this info with your sisters, daughters, aunties, cousins, and co-workers; you never know who is suffering in silence! 1 in 10 women will have some form of this condition. Find a doctor who listens to you!

Hello
I have lichen sclerosis too! Very rare apparently especially in my early thirties when i was first diagnosed. I am now in my forties. I have been given dermovate for the area (which is a steroid cream) which i too use regularly. I too though have regular problems with my perineum although the skin is very sensitive and tears (like the rest of that area the dermovate doesn't help as area gets sore and infected and needs antibiotic cream to help heal . The exact part where i was cut for giving birth is the bit that gets infected. I am talking to my doctor about getting the antibiotic cream on my repeat prescription list so i don't have to keep visiting the doctor!
