I wont lie guys, im having the exact same pain as we SPEAK. ive been like this now for 2 days, cant even open my mouth wide cause it hurts so bad, feels like i have strep throat, the first day i couldnt even swallow, but i will tell you what helps tremendously. If you CANNOT get to a doctor, and can't get some benedryll or penicillin, Gargle 3-5 times a day with water with salt in it, douse the water in salt and swish it and gargle like mouthwash, it will numb the pain, then follow that up with a blunt of marijuana, im not joking, it relieves almost all the pain, kinda making your mouth feel... good, haha :P

what ever happened? i have same thing. Wisdom tooth coming out. Gums are swollen, canker sore all over my mouth, lump on my right side of the neck. My ears & throat hurt every time I swallow my saliva. I'm on amoxicillin anitbiotics for 2 days. My dentist said he cant pull it out until the lumps goes away. He cleaned my pus and kind of feels like the gums are my problem but the canker sores are. its really painful. I rinse with a lot with a mouth was and it helps but 20 mins later, starts to hurt again. Can u please tell me what happened to you. It would really help.

Good to read ppl are in the same boat as I am. About 4 days ago, my bottom right wisdom tooth came thru; gum around it is swollen. At first, gargling strong alcohol mouthwash took the edge off, but now that makes it more painful and gentle warm salted water is better. But the swallowing problem is the worst thing - hurts so much that I'm just spitting out build-ups of saliva, instead of trying to swallow (oh, the things we take for granted/don't even notice when we're well!). I'm taking ibuprofen, which helps, but gotta take it after food, so have to get down some tea n toast beforehand (arrghh).
Right now I'm trying to ride it out, as one person advises on here, before I go crying to the dentist. This is for 2 reasons: I've already paid for 3 check-ups over the last 2 months and I don't wanna pay for yet another (English health system: pay £18 ($30) for 5 mins check-up and further £7.85 for antibiotic prescription). Second reason is that 6yrs ago, i had the same thing on my left side: the young, dumb, impetuous dentist yanked out the upper wisdom tooth (not the lower one, where the actual problem was) to take pressure off the bottom one and my mouth bled continuously for 3 days and I lost a stone in weight (not good for me - I was too weak to cycle to work after that). I think that, had I just 'ridden it out', I would have been either in the same position (but without the distressing bleeding) or in a better position because the lower wisdom tooth which was the problem has since fully emerged and the gum around it has nicely flexed around it.
So, hoping the tooth will keep emerging and the gum will adapt for this lower right wisdom I have right now. I think, however, if I see white spots and visible facial swelling, I would do to doc/dentist for antibiotics. If painkillers are not managing the pain to a bearable level, see a dentist/doc. BUT good to research online first - if I'd done this the first time, I would've learnt that wisdom tooth extraction is NOT as easy as regular teeth and requires a dental hospital and general anaesthetic, NOT some inexperienced id**t dentist doing it there and then.
Good luck, everyone.
