My mom had very similar symptoms, ongoing chronic sore throat, ear aches, a raspy voice, and sporadic cough. After several months, she saw a holistic health doctor who said it could be caused by an intolerance or allergy to wheat. My mom cut wheat out of her diet and the sore throat went away almost immediately. As long as she avoids wheat, she doesn't experience symptoms.
I have a friend who also has some type of wheat intolerance and she loses her voice when she eats wheat.
I guess wheat allergies or intolerances can occur as allergy rhinitis or even asthma. ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

In July started as consistent sore throat. i was told it was allergies, took claritin and got allergy shot and it didn't help. In October the pain in my throat and ears was unbearable - my neck was actually throbbing. Dr. prescribed z-pac and that didn't help. i went to ENT who said it looked like acid reflux. I started taking prilosec which seemed to help after a few days. then I had another episode of same symptoms but my jaw hurt too. Most recently i had a terrible cough, drainage, sore throat, earache and was told i had bronchitis. after reading some of these posts, i'm worried noone knows what it is and i'm going to have to live with this!

Eagle's syndrome can cause all those symptoms. I was relieved when my ent diagnosed it and said I do NOT have cancer

did it ever resolve... i've had sore throat for 2 years,,, recurring ear aches and infections. Thyroiditis as a result of unresolved infection and much more mucous and sore achy lungs ..Never ever smoked and I'm 51 .... two years of medical science says 'PROBABLY" an infection.... when does science ever say 'probably"? - when they have no clue ! But this is so tough ...any successes.?
