ugh. I got a fever maybe four days ago and felt really tired...the next morning my gums were swollen on the bottom, my throat was sore, and i had a little canker sore that was pretty uncomfortable.......I woke up and my body felt like i got hit by a truck. The fever lasted three days and i think it finally broke but i have maybe ten canker sores on the inside of my lip, tongue, cheek, and the roof of my mouth...still have a head ache, the swelling progressed to my whole mouth and gums. I can't eat because everything is so sensitive, even drinking. it sucks because my body is hungry and i am so uncomfortable i can't sleep at night. :/ I literally just moved across country suddenly out of my parents house so i don't have insurance at the moment....i'm only 18. i'm super worried and gargling salt water/using canker sore gel to numb my mouth/ spraying chloraseptic..... hope this gets better soon. i can't handle this much longer.

As I said in an earlier post. I found that swishing with plain hydrogen peroxide seemed to help me out the most. I also took lots of airborne, it boots your immune system. I swished first with 50/50 peroxide and water, but I found that straight out of the bottle had the best results. I would do it for about 2-3minutes, then hold it still in my mouth for a few seconds, then spit, Rinse with fresh water twice, then repeat with the peroxide for another 1-2minutes, hold still in my mouth while it sizzled then spit and rinse with fresh water again twice. I did this over and over until the bubbles would not sizzle anymore. It stings a little at first but not nearly as bad as it does with salt water. After the first day (4 times throughout) of the peroxide treatment the canker sores shrunk in half by the next morning! And the pain was so much better. By day 3 it was amazing I could still feel them but they didn't hurt anymore and they were healing so much faster then ever before in the past. Usually canker sores heal in 7-10 days for me but with peroxide treatments about 3-4times a day, now they heal in just 3-5!!! Chloraseptic is useless. It stops the pain for about 3minutes. I actually think it irritates the canker sores and makes them worse! Because with my experience of using it the sores just got bigger. The peroxide will kill the bacteria infecting the canker sores and get deep down into your skin and start numbing it at the nerves. It works! And it's cheap! Swish right after breakfast, lunch, dinner, and just before you go to bed.

i figured out what it is... its called herpangina. your mouth pretty much has a reaction to a cuirtan bactiria or somethin like that and can be brought on by stress. just google it and you can find it all there. you really cant do anything for it, it goes away within 7-10 days. all you can do is take liquid mylanta and liquid benadryl in one of those small cups that comes with the med and do a full cup of benadryl and poor it in a cup and the same measurement of the mylanta and mix it together and rinse your mouth out with it. itll coat your mouth and kinda numb it. then after that take 2 ibprophen or 4 or what ever kind of meds you take for pain to keep the pain down, and then take a benadryl for the pain to help you sleep if you can take it and thats only if your having that bad of a problem like i did. but itll start to clear up... but other than that theres really not much you can do but tough it out i know it sucks trust me... i havent eatin sense i had this c**p and lost 8lb... im frikin hungry and cranky lol but yeah look it up and youll find out what it is.

why don't you tell what was wrong with you and what foods to eat. Sounds like an advertisement. I'm trying to help my sick grandson with no help from the doctors, All I get is he'll be fine. He can't eat and barely drink.

Yogurt, Milk, Mac and cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Chicken Soup, New England Clam Chowder, Creamed corn, Ice Cream, Oatmeal, Jello, Most Soft foods, anything that doesn't need to be chewed very much. And foods or sauces that have no acid such like that contain tomatoes or fruits. The acid in tomato sauces make it very painful and irritate the soars. Anything with milk or cream is soothing and painless. Water even hurts to drink!

Have the same symptoms started with sores on the inside of my mouth near the lip. Turned into one sore and spread to my lower lip now my tongue is sore, I'm running a fever, gums are swollen, and my gums are bleeding. Went to a clinic inside of Wal-mart was tested for strep and mono as well both came back negative. Doctor told me it was hsv-1 or oral herpes and prescribed an antiviral medication called Valacyclovir. Still feeling run down and running a mild fever today but should be cleared up tomorrow. My sympathies to anyone with this it is very aggravating hard to talk, smile, or eat get well soon to anyone else suffering from this.

I had the same thing last year, I cured it by going to a gums doctor. It was "trench mouth".
I just got it again now. It is so painful. I stayed in bed all day because even talking hurts. I feel for anyone who has to go through this.

I'm on amoxicillin for strep, I'm giving it 48 hours to improve my condition. If it doesn't I'll start peroxide swishing with water and possibly get an antiviral medication. I started with cold symptoms days 1-3 and also had phlegm, on day 4 I had a sore throat with swollen tonsils under my jaws are swollen. Day 5 I had one swollen gum, I flossed and rinsed, the next day I woke up with most of my upper gums swollen. Same day I got a sore on the tip of my tongue. Day 7 the back of my throat had a bunch of white spots, up to four sores on my tongues. I'm 24 hours into the antibiotics, no change yet. Will post again in 24 hours.

Update: it's been 48 hours since I started antibiotics. I did the peroxide swish/gargle yesterday anyway. Big difference in the back of my throat, most of the white spots are fading and gone. It still hurts to swallow, but I want to say less painful. My gums are still swollen and sensitive. I still have sores on my tongue, they seem to get better and then worse through the day. It's as if they start healing but then become fresh again as if a scab was scratched. I'm glad that the white spots are going away, that must mean the infection is getting cured by the antibiotics. I'm sure it will be another day or two before the swelling goes down and I could swallow comfortably. I'll update again in 24 hours.

Update
It's now been 72 hours since antibiotics were started. The white spots in the back o my throat are almost completely gone, except for a couple big spots which I think might be sores instead. I can swallow pretty normal now. My throat gets dry, so lots of water is a good idea. Gums are still swollen and sensitive. Sores are still on my tongue, not really getting better.
