I'm a 17 male and I'm thinking of going to the doctor and actually saying, "I smoke weed and I think I have the depersonalization disorder". What would happen? Can they send me to jail? Do you think they would actually do something and help? I relate to mostly ALL of what everyone said in this thread and I'm just hoping that it goes away faster than it did with everyone else. I agree with the "reaching into your pockets" feeling! Anyways, I was also thinking of taking Xanax or Prozac although I heard it may have some bad side effects? Has anyone tried it? PLZ REPLY TO ME I AM NOT FREAKING OUT BUT I WANT TO GET RID OF THIS FEELING! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I think smoking weed at a young age dosent help.  Your not fully developed mentally or physically.

Im a huge stoner and have been since I was 17 im now 38.  I have had alot of whiteys, they make you feel sick and a cold sweat, they dont last longer than a few hours, just like drinking too much booze can feel a bit rough after.  But these fade as you build up a tolerance.  A pint of beer will get you pissed, but after a while it dosent and you need more to get the effect.  You wouldnt drink a liter of vodka for your first drink would you.

On another note I think the THC content could have been too high which can give scary horrible feelings,  if this happens you need to get hold of some weed with a high CBD content, this will counter the THC and make you feel relaxed, comfortable, content and happy.... just how you should be feeling.  High THC content is not nice, but some do like it.  It scares me too, it feels like the world is going to end and gives you a sad unsafe feelings .  Unfortunately while its illegal and unregulated it can be too strong.

Respect is what is needed when smoking, but believe me some high CBD content weed will really help to overcome the feeling.

(CBD has anti psychotic properties)

i know how you feel im 13 and i started when i was 12 the trick is your first time around some poeple just dont feel it right away and you thought it should have been better right so you smoked more and more and it all hit you at once so basicly you oded on weed it cant kill you so dont worry you just smoked to much your first time and freaked out and it hasnt gotten conpletely out of your system yet. you had no tolerinc to it so id had an overwhelming affect my first time i took it slow i still got blazed just more ehh controlled...i guess you could say that;)......but i dont smoke often. like every 2 or 3 days but if you feel like you want to try it again go ahead but take it slower dont onverdo it.

Everyone feels this way from smoking there first couple times cause you may not be used to the high. I  had the same problem and getting a little high makes me feel so much better. So i suggest smoke more or don't smoke at all.once you get used to the high you actually have an enjoyable time and it brings up your mood and confidence :)

Hey guys!

I searched through the whole internet and I finally found a thread where people actually keep posting. :)I'm going through a similar phase right now. Let me tell you my story:

I am a 21 years old male. So more than a week ago I met some old friends in a tavern/restaurant and we had a good time talking and drinking. I drank about 4 glasses of white wine with sparkling water over a period of 5 hours. An hour later me and two friends of mine went to one of their houses and smoked two cigaretes of weed (I think one was hash and one was weed if I recall it exactly). However, at first I felt really relaxed, then the laughing-phase took over and then I suddenly felt very awkward. I thought: Please stop, I don't want this effect anymore. As this was like my 5th time smoking weed, I calmed myself down and reminded myself that the effect would disappear.

It got worse - I felt completely dizzy and really tired. It felt like a dream, I couldn't really control what I was doing, my body just did it. So I went home and fell asleep. The next day I woke up I thought it's a hangover but it still continued like I was dreaming and I didn't really noticed everything around me. I tried to sleep it off. It got better the next day but I still felt very dizzy (vertigo) and my hands numb. My sense of touch in general wasn't working right. Two days I was also nauseos.

10 days have passed and I'm still dizzy (nobody can see it but my body is balancing all the time even when I'm sitting or lying in bed). The good thing is: my motor activity has improved and I can now feel things better and follow conversation, I'm still having a hard time concentrating on things though. I don't get a lot of sleep either. It feels like the dizzy feeling when you are high but your mind is clear ... it's hell on earth for me as I want to go back to my original state so bad. I realized that my life up until now has been great and I want to make so much more out of it. Health is the most important thing in life!

It isn't the exact same experience as yours but I'm posting this here because I have found many threads in the internet who are reporting the same exact issue but no one ever responded if they got better or not and that worries me that it might not go away ... I even cried a lot because of my worries.

What did I try to improve my state? The doctor I went to measured my blood pressure, made an ECG and took blood samples.Blood pressure is normal as are the blood samples. The ECG is not how it is supposed be but I'm going to see a cardiologist today. He prescribed me something for vertigo (for inner ear - not sure if it is working) and for nausea (which I don't take anymore because I don't need them). Funny thing is my appetite in general is way lower than it used to be.

Next step would be an ENT-specialist (ears, nose, throat), a neurologist and the final step: special ambulance for vertigo.

What does help me?Everything that distracts me from my current state! Especially doing simple tasks or taking a walk is very good because I don't seem to concentrate on the vertigo. Riding a car or bus (not as a driver!) also helps distracting. But what I feel is the most important: Thinking positive and talking positive - mind control. Also being touched by another person helps me - especially massages like Shiatsu are very relaxing and distracting. Bach Flowers are a good supporter too.

I hope it gets better ... I really do. I have some things I want to achieve in life so I really regret smoking that stuff. I will never do it again.Has anybody else been there? Keep posting stuff, guys! :)

Just thought i would drop a reply in here because i have gone through this experience twice now. First time i had this was caused by taking fly agaric mushrooms and legal marijuana i wont go into all the details because its already been made clear what it feels like. For me i felt like i was permanently drunk or mildly high had big issues with my balance and stuff. For me it lasts 2 years before the effects finally gone completely. Anyways i tried my luck smoking real weed not long ago and now im back feeling high 24/7... My advice is don't go to any doctor, when i gone through this 2 years ago i gone to the hospital because i thought something else was wrong and nearly got sectioned in a mental ward. Have to be very careful with this sorta thing especially if your under 18. All i can really say from experience is wait it out as it will pass in my case took 2 years to fully go back to normal but things do get better with time.

Also if weed caused this depersonalization or whatever it is do not go back when your feeling better and smoke more of it like i done because i was feeling perfectly back to normal after 2 years and put myself back to the start by smoking some hash. This sh*t comes back alot quicker than it takes to go so my advice if you had this from weed don't touch the stuff again.

May I ask you what kind of dizziness you had for those 2 years?
Right now, 5 weeks have passed since the depersonalization and I have a constant rocking sensation (like being on a boat) when sitting, lying, standing. Nobody can see it but my body and mind is constantly swinging back and forth. Was that similar to yours?

Thanks in advance!

Oh yes the constant moving feeling, i have it right now infact and had it for the last 2 weeks since i smoked the weed again. Keep asking myself why i smoked the f*****g thing again after my last experience with it. Last time i had this things got better after a good 6 months the rocking sensation only come on occasionally after the first 6 months or so but it was a good 2 years before i got over the DP and DR fully basically felt back to normally 100% after 2 years. What i personally think is that this thing we are experiencing comes from the panic attacks/anxiety that is induced from the marijuana or whatever drug was taken. I don't actually think its the thc or cbd but rather a after effect from the panic attacks ect like a change in brain chemistry due to the anxiety which in my case was caused from the weed. You will get better with time i can promise you that! not saying you will get back to 100% normal as the experience alone from anxiety and depersonalization will make you permanently aware and this can make you feel different permanently but the vertigo feelings e.g feeling like your on a boat will subside with time. Atleast in my case it did and im damn counting on it going again if not i will go bloody insane lol. . It comes down to your lifestyle as well, if you consume caffeine ect all this aggrevates the effects your feeling i know i have completely cut out coffee and energy drinks 2 weeks ago as it can only cause the constant moving and dizzy feeling to go worse. The more you exercise the better you will feel because generally exercise releases dopamine and infact so does listening to music that you enjoy so try and do things similar to this to help. But the three main things that will help is getting decent amounts of sleep at a consistent time, exercise and eating healthy.

It seems I was to slow to see the EMail you posted because it has already been removed by a moderator.

I only had the depersonalization for 1 or 2 weeks. The only thing that stayed is this constant moving feeling. Do you feel better when riding a car? Do you have any other symptoms besides that "rocking sensation"?

Wow ... 6 months and 2 years ... that sounds soooo long to me. Every minute feels like a minute too long in this condition. Have you done anything special that it has become better? Did you try to ignore it or something else? Thanks for the advices I will keep those in mind!
