Okay, most of you all are young and pretty undereducated on mental 'illnesses' and cannabis. Just know that no drug can create a mental problem like this. Although not completely understood, most professionals agree that anxiety and depersonalization problems are caused by emotional, physical or sexual trauma (most commonly at a very young age) or by genetic predisposition to the issue. That being said, if you have these issues present, smoking weed or taking psychoactive hallucinogenic drugs can bring out, or physically express, a dormant psychological 'illness'. Also, puberty is a time when your brain and hormonal structure is undergoing many intense changes. It is possible that consuming THC caused you to notice the changes more intensively than you would if you hadn't smoked. Also, depending on how frequently you consume, THC (being a lipophilic compound) can stay bound to the fatty acid triglycerides in your body for up to several months.

it's literally physically impossible to get addicted to weed. It's all in your mind. I was a smoker for a pretty long time, quit cold turkey and I'm 100% fine. I suggest you all just need to man the heck up.

dude i agree with the guy above. Ive been smoking weed for almost 4 years now. currently 16. my local doctor said i was healthy as I'll ever be. and I'm smoking just about everyday of the week. i mean yeah I'll have days where i don't have any weed to smoke, and I'll sober up for a week or 2. and yes ive had all those "thoughts" you guys are ranting on about up there. but see the difference between the people trying to quit, and me, is being a strong willed person. and to be strong willed, you have to be able to not quit, keep on fighting for what you believe in, and keep believing in it, not giving up. no matter how much propaganda BS you hear from your teacher, the news, your parents, or the police. as a matter of fact, if your able to, go and do what that guy said up top, "go and do some research". because if you go trying to judge something that you have no knowledge on, that's doing basically what your parents told you NOT to do when you were a kid - "Don't judge a book by its cover". lmao and get your facts str8, before you start straightening others but anyways, i'm not here to start any problems with anyone, just trying to be open minded and share my experiences and knowledge with the rest of the world looking at this website rite now. lol now that i think about it though, i dont have to worry because in our lifetime weed will be legalized completely in the united states before we die. just sayin', its inevitable man. theirs no getting around it.

You guys need to relax, the real problem here is anxiety not marijuana abuse. The connection  between the two is a result of marijuana use, marijuana can cause anxiety in some people, not all people. But in those people where the anxiety is present, stop smoking marijuana. Marijuana can have an impact on the neurological balance in your brain, but this heals with time and you didn't smoke enough or long enough to have substantial damage, this would only occur after years of abuse. What happened to you when you smoked was an anxiety attack. The "high" feeling you have constantly is anxiety, this is common after an anxiety attack, your constant concern about your feeling this way is fueling the anxiety further. You need to calm down, drink lots of water and remember that you are just fine, the symptoms will go away. Hope this helps.

k this is an old thread but for people looking over this i think i can help. so a little background of me. the first time i smoke was when i was 14 in the eight grade then i continue doing it in the 9th grade on weekends then when i went into highschool i started smoking alot more like 6-7 times a week then when summer came along i would smoke multiple times everyday. then this past summer im going in to my senior year so i decided to quit. then i experienced all of these problems, really bad anxiety and with the anxiety i was getting depression and the worst of it was the derealization or depersonalization. people say smoking weed cant cause these things but really anything you use for a long period of time that changes your state of mind can cause these things. so with the symptoms they got better over time the anxiety went away but i still had that feeling of not feeling "right" and now its been 4 months and i must say its getting better but its still kinda there but also i had smoked a couple times in that break which was not smart so now i just gotta be strong and power through it. you do need to just suck it up that really helps cause if you just sit and let it dwell your not helping the cause. exercise and keep busy, find a hobby, play video games, read a book. and hang out with friends that have the same standards and things in common as you do. and it will all pass in time you just cant break or you will have to repeat the whole process. and with the depersonalization or not feeling normal is something that varies depending on you. some it last weeks or months or years depending on how you handle it but just know it does go away and when you start to get rid of the anxiety you wont even think about it and forget its even there which is a good sign of it being gone or almost gone. so suck it up, be strong, keep busy, and find interests im only 18 and your young as well so it will be ok you v got your whole life and later you will look back on this and be proud you pushed through it and maybe help someone in the same position.

If we're talking about your mental abilities then the solution is not to worry. Marijuana does not have actual (negative) physical effects on your mental capabilities, especially when you don't smoke it 24/7. I know a lot of people who have been worried that they might be getting duller, or that they constantly feel hazy, but they have all realised that it's not the case. Since the effects of marijuana are often learned as you go and not definite physiological effects (consciousness is complicated after all), being high often just 'teaches' you how to view the world from a different angle. Often this change in perspective and being able to think a bit different from before is perceived as a dullness or haze, coupled with anxiety and the fact that you DO feel burnt out a bit after coming down from the high. Since all that's important is whether your mental abilities are still the same, then you have nothing to worry about. They are.

I wouldn't recommend smoking it every day though. This applies to any substance of course.

I am 19 years old and i have been feeling like this for the last week. Every thing i touch and feel registers late in my head and sometimes i don't even feel things, like "my hand moving around in my pocket". My mind blanks out frequently and i also experience a lot of dizziness. i do not feel like myself and notice many unusual things. This was my fourth time getting high and it was really light compared to the other times. I'm gonna start exercising and drinking more water to see if this helps and will post another post if it ever goes away. It is a really annoying feeling and something that i could probably tolerate for a couple weeks but not the rest of my life.

Guys it is getting better. I promise you. I have had this sh*t for about 6-7 weeks now and it was so f*****g frustrating, until I one day realized that it wasnt real, its all in your head. Just do sh*t and live your normal life and eventually you will think about other things. Weed doesnt have that effect on you, it is only your mind playing tricks. Hang in there guys, it is getting better.
