I also have this, for 3 years now, but only from time to time. First time, I was laying down and when I felt it, I was terrified because I have not experienced that never in my life.

What I have notticed: when I don't think about it, and not concentrate on this feeling, mostly it pass away. (I recommand this for everyone who feel these spasms.) Otherwise, when I concentrate on it and when I put my hand above the pulse I have the impression that the spasms intensifies.

I have thought about it and many things (even non medical causes)
came to my mind, weird ones as well.
Who wrote the "Alian" seria must have been experienced the same simptom. :-D :-D :-D
What if I we (those who have these feelings) have been abducted by aliens and we have an organic implant? (once I have dreamed that some aliens came in my room) :-D

I don't think that could be an intestinal warm beacause sometimes the spasm can be felt in arms and legs.

I don't eliminate the possibilty of spiritual causes. :-|
I don't know if there is a connection but I have noticed that after I have a fight with someone or I infuriate, I sometimes experience this spasms, maybe is a coincidence, I am curious that others have noticed this connection...
I don't know about you but I believe in God and when it happens, I just say some prayers and it helps me a lot, most times the feeling dissapears.

A good advise I think is magnesium pills, it could be a simptom of low level of magnesium... :-)

as for the spasms in the arms and legs, dont know what that is, but if its in your lower abdomen it could be ovarian cysts cause I have the same thing. I am getting an ultrasound next week to see if I have anything wrong in there, my other symptoms are gas, bloating and abdominal pain. Also I frequently urinate which Im scared it may be a large cyst against my bladder. But sometimes, just the certain foods u eat can cause spasms. If they still persist see your Dr

I have the same lower abdominal, sides, belly button, etc. spasms and i went to a gastroenterologist and got a colonoscopy. They found that i had IBS and that causes the spasms. Whether they hurt or not IBS can cause discomfort too. She perscribed me Bentyl which is a muscle relaxer that is used to treat IBS. This helped dramtically.

I have been experiencing the same sorts of spasms recently. I think perhaps my diet may have something to do with it. I haven't been eating very well lately. Usually whenever I have the muscle spasms I feel slightly nauseous like I have the flu or something but I know it can't be pregnancy since a. I haven't engaged in sex and b. I just got off my period. I wonder if perhaps it's related to diet and lack of sleep.

Hi everyone,

If you haven't gone to the doctor please go. They will be able to confirm or deny that you are pregnant, or have a serious problem. If you have gone to the doctor and have not gotten answers, I would go back and ask them if they have tested for, or ruled out Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

PCOS does not mean you have cists on your ovaries (though it could, it is not more common than having clean ovaries). Basically it is a hormonal imbalance that keeps certain chemincal reactions from happening to release an egg. It can cause up to 6months between mentral cycles, and cause muscle spasm, fatige, water retention, inflammed stomach. It makes you feel as though you are in the first stages of pregnancy.

Symptoms include:

1. Missed periods
2. Muscle spasms and cramps
3. General Fatigue
4. Can cause anxiety and/or depression
5. Increase in testoserone
6. Increase in hair growth (body and face)
7. Male patern baldness
8. Increased efforts to lose weight
9. Over prolonged periods of time without treatment, can cause infertility

The doctor will perform a standard pelvic exam to diagnos, if you have it they just ask you to keep up on your yearly visits. Losing 10-15% of your current body weight will eliminate symptoms in most women. Hormone based Birth Control is the best bet to control PCOS.

I hope this helps, or at least helps to rule something out!

Go to a gastro doc.
get an endoscopy
get a colonoscopy
get a small bowel series
get sonogram of abdomen (checks all organs down there)
get a HIDA scan... checks for efficiency of gallbladder and/or dysfunction Ejection faction less than 35% means gallbladder has to be removed.
if all come back neg. then you have I.B.S.

I have had this problem for over 4 years. It started on the left side about 2 inches in diameter, and now its about 5 inches in diameter, sometimes my whole left side. It starts like you said, a little flutter, and I know that the pain is going to start, the least time is about 5 minutes the longest time around 35 minutes, I thought I was going to die. Doctors still have not figured out what it is, I have had all the tests. It is driving me crazy. It happens at least once a day.

Hey all, I have experienced muscle spasms for several days. I took Bentylol which relieves stomach spasms. It does not require a prescription. Also, it may have several side effects like dizziness or mouth dryness etc. These side effects vary from one person to another. It relieved me from stomach spasms that usually occurred at the entrance of the stomach. Search for it on google you will find more information or go and ask a pharmacist.
Anyway, it worked for me and hope it does for you, otherwise go see a doctor. :-D

Ohhhhhh I'm not alone!
I'm 15 and absolutely paranoid because I do terrible things to my body
My eating habits are terrible (let's just say...minimal) I drink heavily and smoke regularly too but I drink heaps of water and exercise regularly so I'm healthy on that aspect, it's a relief to see I'm not dying of something and it's just my muscles being retarded

SO i have read all the posts in this starting back to 2006!!!

I have all the symptoms everyone is talking about the feeling of being preggers, bloat, and weight gain. I drink alot of water, im going to try the magnesium, and i eat alot of yogurt.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS (Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome), Fibromyalgia (chronic pain in muscles). I take zoloft, and birth control pills. I currently have no insurance because of these stupid preexisting conditions, I'm only 20 years old and really hope its not another medical problem. But before going to the doctor im going to try magnesium and the colon enzyme. If i had insurance I would definitely go to a doctor.

FOR everyone else I would go to your doctor, if your doctor doesnt give you satisfied results look into going to a Metabolic Doctor aka endocrinologist.

Good Luck to us all ;-)

Try going to massage therapy. The muscles in your back have a lot to do with the muscle in the front of your body. his, but there are actually muscles under your rib cage, right at the very bottom of your ribs, that can affect muscle spams and contractions in the stomach. Massage therapists are very good at releasing tension in muscles, which leads to improved circulation and better health. Definately worth a try if this problem is really bugging you.
