I have had the same thing for a couple years now.  My thyroid stopped working after I gave birth to my doctor.  They put me on medication for it, but it causes me chest pain, so currently I am not treating it (but need to somehow).  I am having that feeling as I sit here and type.  I deffinately think thyroid or the arteries (pressure within due to blood pressure or blood flow could be a question as well.

I have been having the same symptoms. Very uncomfortable and painful. Mines normally last for about 4-5 days and go away for about 2-3months and come back. I'm in so much pain now.

To all the previous post, I have been doctoring for the same thing for several years now. Have all the same symptoms - pain/aching in neck on left side (I actually have a swollen spot about the size of a dime), hurts when I swallow like something is stuck there, ears aching and plugged feeling and the thickened saliva. Have had every test imaginable done and my doctor and I have come to the conclusion that my Eustachian tubes are swelling and cutting off the flow of excess mucous to my throat it only happens ever so often (maybe once a month or so) because it has to do with allergies and I also have Sialolithiasis which is stones and or infection in your saliva glands which causes the thickened mucous and swollen/aching in your neck also. My MRI actually showed saliva stones in my glands after a trip to the emergency room over the rapid swelling in my neck. The infection/stones are resolved with antibiotics for temporary solution and the Eustachian tube swelling and blockage is usually treated with a decongestant/allergy pill. So this may help to answer some of your questions.
Hope it helps you out a bit!

I have the same symptoms as many of you. Firstly the soreness in the neck and under the jawline. In addition I have a localised pain behind the left clavicle / collarbone.

My family doctor has dismissed the symptoms several times. I laso have a sore throat and the urge to clear my throat several times an hour.

Coupled with this I have had three months of stomach and chest issues in that I get a pain in the left hand side of my chest - under the rib cage and arm, and a gnawing pain in the lower right abdomen.

My family doctor ignored all of these symptoms for three months but when I insisted on a colonoscopy they found three polyps which were removed. I am awaiting answers on if they are cancerous.

I wonder if I have swollend glands, or indeed polyps in the throat. A friend had similar issues five years ago which turned out to be polyps that took a year to be removed as they were so close to his larynx only a small part at a time was removed in 5 procedures.

I hate not knowing what the issue is and I hate family doctors who ignore intelligent people who give clear and concise descriptions of their smptoms.

So a decongestant like Sudafed helps? My sinus's are acting up. They do this all the time. This is the first time i've experienced the neck and back pain though. I'm amazed at how many other people are suffering with this undiagnosable condition!!

Same here with Neck symptoms but now I have soft swollen lump below left collarbone as well. Neck thing has happened to me past couple years around Autumn/Fall and I am an allergy sufferer. Every year I still freak out as to what this is. I do think it is sinus related. May go to Doctor to double check.

Hello! I have been feeling the same strange pain on the outside of my upper throat on the right side for the past 3 days. It's been present almost the whole time and also shoots out pain into my lower teeth and my right ear. The earache seems to intensify over time. There does seem to be a peanut-sized lump in my throat. I've had these same symptoms about 5-6 months ago, though I'm not sure if I had a lump because I haven't tried to feel for one. Last time, I did the lemon and maple syrup detox at the time and it went away, so I suspect it may have been some type of infection. However, it worries me that this thing came back again after several months.

I have this exact same thing on the right side of my neck! No clue what it is, but I keep thinking the worst. You posted this 6 years ago; what was your diagnosis?

I have been going through the same thing now for 6 years. Achy throat, but in the neck, sometimes hard to swallow and a lot of time feeling like I had a hairball. I have been to ENT family doc and had barrium swallow tests done to know avail.. I just found out mine were allergies after a pretty scary reaction to strawberries... I never had allergies before but it turns out I'm allergic to all grapes and tree and flower pollens.. Ive been on benadril or Aerius since and starting to feel way better..hope this works for you guys too :D

I to have had most of these symptoms. I keep having strange pains deep in my neck. When I search for the pain it is next to my esophagus about mid way down the neck. When I press the exact spot I do feel a heartbeat and press hard enough the pain stops. When I move or stretch my neck it hurts especially up into my left ear and behind my ear. Lots of pressure. When I jog it actually gets worse. Not really sure what it is but would love to know when someone does find out

It sounds like a trigger point in the muscle. Outside of lymphnodes there is arteries, musculature and para phangeal space . The scalene muscles which are comprised of three: anterior, posterior & medial. Trigger points come and go. Stretching the scalenes is very helpful.

I feel the same pain in my neck and left clavicle as you all describe and the best answer I can come up with is the continued use of that shoulder for my messenger bag.

I have developed the same thing (left side of my neck, seemingly a muscle or gland) that hurts to the touch, to yawn, etc.  For years I noticed that once in awhile it would feel as if something 'popped' in that area or got 'stuck, momentarily out of place'.  The pain was the exact same pain I have now.  But, then -  when I pressed that area or moved my head around it would 'pop' back into place and feel fine.  About a month ago - that happened but it never 'popped' back and I have the pain continuously.  Does this ring a bell with anyone? How discouraging that there is not diagnosis.
