A strange question, but I have recently had an attack of vertigo (since resolved). Can people advise if when they run and their foot hits the pavement (with resultant vibration through the body ) there is a brief bounce or shake to their vision ahead (i.e. if they are looking in the distance at a tree or object is there some brief vibration to that object coiniciding with pavement strike). I suddenly seem very aware of what I suspect is normal. would be interested in other thoughts. Thanks
When I ran on the treadmill today, I noticed that it was harder to look at my neighbor's shed that's 50 ft. away then it was to watch TV that's only 5 ft. away. I guess things get a little bouncy, but I guess I'm just used to it.

I recall in my 25-yrs of running that happening once and it scared the toots outta me. I don't think a 'bounce' in your vision is normal. Have you had an eye exam lately? I'd mention to the eye doc :twocents:

since you have had vertigo issues, i'd definitely mention this to a doctor. i really haven't noticed any shake to my vision with a footstrike, ever.

yes, I do. It isn't normal. Somedays are worse than others. I have seen doctors and have yet to have it resolved. One said it was old age and the bones are hardening. I.don't.think.so. I'm wondering.....do you suffer from allergies???? Last summer I had the vertigo really bad that I had trouble getting out of bed, I had to hang onto things, and my vision changed with any slight movement. Antiobiotics can help, but I don't know what's causing it. This week I'm having a vibration thing going on like you describe, but my vision seems okay. I'm getting over a virus which is why I think it's all related to inner ear problems

did you ever solve this? Did it go away? I went jogging today and had this exact thing happen to me and it freaked me out. Were you by any chance on any ace inhibitor for blood pressure? I took lisinopril- had a bad reaction to it - stopped it, and now my vision does then when I jog.

Have you found out the reason!! Ive been suffering from this for years and sometimes its so bad , i was on a scooter and i ran into bumps, then my vision was bounching all the way up and down like an earthquake

This happens to me too...I noticed it recently but might have always been there and never noticed. I brought it up to doctors, optometrists, and neuro-opthamologists, and all didn't seem concerned (some mentioned it happened to them too). I'm concerned as I am at risk for a hereditary disease which can affect the vestibular ocular reflex, and so I was looking up Oscillopsia and was concerned I had it. Still not sure...will visit with neuro soon. I feel like my VOR works to stabilize vision, but it's not perfectly stable with hard foot strikes when running. I notice that things nearby are quite stable though...However I have a slight ocular misalignment which could also contribute to distances not being as stable...

This started happening to me but only on the odd random run. I noticed that if I look left whilst running, the bouncing stopped. This obv isn't a great cure for it though.

It happens to also. I especially notice it as i play softball and i run after the ball. It is hard to track because it bounces so much. It only started happening the last 2 years or so. But it is consistent.

If you search "softball vision bounce" in google you'll see this appears to be not too unusual. If I change glasses/contacts prescriptions, it is very noticeable but less noticeable after a few days. I imagine if you have some extra weight (like me), the extra loose fat/skin on the face jiggles a bit more with foot strike, pulling the skin around the eye causing it to squish a little and alter the vision. It's one of those things that your brain probably usually ignores, but when you are aware of it, you can't stop seeing it...Similar to when you start noticing when you blink.
