Just consulted with my dad, who is a family practice doctor, on this, because I have a small bump on my neck under my left ear too.

It doesn't move around and is about the size of a dime. He right away glanced at my ears, and told me it's because of my ear piercing! Sure enough, for the past 2 weeks my left ear has been sore and oozing just a tiny bit. It's infected a little bit and so the lymph node under it got swollen.

Cure? Just leave the earrings out for a month or so. And if the piercing is still oozing, wash it with soap&water, or rubbing alcohol, or even sea salt dissolved in water. Don't pick at it, and if it gets worse or if the bump gets bigger, see your regular doctor.

I know what the bump is.

It's a swollen lymph node. It doesn't change in size, it's hard like a stone. I have it for 8 years now. One question for all of you who have this bump on your neck. Do you have any acne growing on the back of your head? If so please let me know because this can be an infection as well.

I think i may have this. Out of nowhere, i got some bumps on the back of my head, and they hurt really bad. I had my roommates look at it and they thought that it was a bug bite or something. Then shortly after getting the bumps on the back of my head, i received a bump on the back of my neck on the right. I asked my parents about it, and they thought it was a swollen lymph node. What do you do for this kind of infection?

Hi,

I have a bump on the left side of my neck. I have had it for at least 4-5 years now. It swells up some times then goes back on its own. Right now its swollen for no reason. As the previous post mentions, I also have some really painful acne on the back of my head inside my hair. Should i be worried about this? DO i have to go to the Doc?

Please reply if you know anything about this. I am really worried.

Thanks,
Kate

i dont want to alarm you guys but a bump on your neck could be a sign that you have an infection and that your lymph nodes are swollen. This could be a sign of hiv infection. Get it checked and get your white blood cell count.
