I have a large bump right in the middle on my upper gums where my lip connects to my gums. It started swelling up over a week ago and there was a lot of pain and pressure. About 4 days ago, a head formed and it drains when pushed on. I have used hot salt water, tea tree oil, listerine type products and nothing seems to help. My husband's mouth is getting sore and red now. I have not read that anyone else had their mouth problems being contagious. Has anyone had this problem?

Hi i am 20 and my name is Josh, now for the squishy lump under your tooth and its like a size of a tiny blueberry (or pretty much FAT) its probably an abcess. Abcess you can go to your dentist and they will gently squeeze it out for you but after that depending WHAT caused that infection you might need a root canal. Ive had one right under my right teeth next to my bottom right k9. its in the inner side of my jaw by my tongue and its actually kind of purple / black. Now i was a cigarette smoker and marijuana smoker. Now for people who do these things and dont mention it , remember you have to mention it to your dentist because any kind of smoke is not meant to be in your mouth and it is HARMFUL. The reason how i got my "fat bump size of a blueberry that i wanted to really pop" is my braces were moving my k9's in place and when your teeth moves , you can kind of move it yourself because there is space between your gums and your tooth. (you can tell in the X ray if there is alot of black space between your tooth and your gums that means its very loose) The cigarette and marijuana smoke got in that and it kind of made things worse from all the food going in there. I mean i have heavy braces so its very hard to floss and takes a long time but i do brush my teeth 3-5 times a day with mouth rinse. anyway when i went to the dentist they told me what it was and they squeeze it out. now they said i need a root canal so dont worry people, if your able to squeeze and taste this yellowish kinda salty thick liquid that is just pus in your gums. Its better to realize this early and tell your dentist about it. Now when you do this make SURE you go to a right dentist. Some dentists say they dont do it or dont specialize in root canals. Make sure you go to a known dentist around your area that you did plenty of research on. My dentist is the main podieum leader in the DENTAL IMPLANTS COMMUNITY so he knows what his doing. If its under your skin, always make sure you go with the best of the best in that field.

Maybe it's just a mucocele, which is Not cancer and fairly easy to deal with?

I just got a lump on upper left gum. I don't know what it is, but this is the place where I had a root canal which a dentist finished over a year ago but it developed a small dark hole on the bottom of the tooth. It was hurting for quiet a while recently and the place where I got the lump was actually hurting a lot (it was the gum next to the root canal tooth). Then the pain disappeared and this morning I noticed the lump. It hurts very slightly when I push on it, but doesn't hurt otherwise. Idk what it is and I'm a bit worried. I assume it has something to do with the root canal and the tooth that was hurting (and the gum was hurting too). A dentist some time ago told me that infection might get inside the tooth through the hole, so maybe that's what it is. Any ideas of what it might be are highly appreciated.

I have a white bump on my lower right side and it hurts when I push on it. It pops now and then, but comes back! I have had it for four months and it is getting a little bigger. I am going to the dentist soon but, I have no idea what it is. I have this numbing stuff I put on it but it helps for a little bit.

Please try and remain calm about this everyone. Trust me I know how intimidating it is when weird things appear or happen to the body. What you need to remember is that most of these are truly nothing to worry about. A very small amount may actually be a problem. Either way, don't discount the possibility that your body will heal anyway. Fear and doubt amplify whatever is going on, so remain calm and have faith. If you can see a doctor, then see a good one. If you are unable to, you are not screwed, not by a longshot. Ask and believe you will be healed, and then allow healing to come through whichever medium it will, doctors, natural, whatever. Just don't forget the one who heals you.

Nothing to worry about! Stay calm! Wash your teeth softly and clean. I have the same thing. The best thing to do is LEAVE IT ALONE, before it gets worse. Then rinse it with salt and water. (One cup of water, and add a spoon of salt, and stir with a spoon. Rinse.) Massage it with a finger slowly. The problem is that you have a pushed tooth in or out the wrong way instead of the middle, causing the bump. Stay calm. And ask your parents to get them checked.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

Try this. wet a qtip in water, then dip the qtip in baking soda, put that on the bump massage it for about a minute or two (try not to lick it). After that rinse your mouth and it should be gone.

I have this bump on my gums. It doesn't hurt,it's small, and I figured out that if I piush on it it deflates. And today I heard it pop then it started bleeding. x.x still doesn't hurt.... I taste blood as I type this. I told my dad,and he said: Don't mess with it,your mouth is a good place for it to heal itself.

It sounds like a cold sore..
Cold sores are also commonly known as feaver blisters, oral herpes or herpes labialis. They are lesions that occur on the mouth, lip and facial area and are caused by the Herpes simplex virus. Really hope that's not what it is though.

I had a herbst appliance about 8-10 yrs ago. I believe u r probably just not brushing thoroughly enough. All that metal in your mouth just collects all kinds of c**p, no matter how often you brush.
