I am a 41 yr old male who is being treated for kidney stones. On Tuesday the urologist put stents into both of my kidneys. During the procedure he encountered a stricture in my urethra and says that he had to stretch it and then place a catheter. Information I can find suggests that this is a normal and somewhat common procedure. The problem is that I think he may have been too aggressive with the stretching. My penis is extremely sensitive to any touch at all. The slightest shifting of my catheter or even brushing against the inside of my boxers causes severe pain. I am unable to get any real sleep because nocturnal erections cause me to awaken in agony. I have a small amount of discharge between my urethra and catheter but, I was told in advance that this would be normal. There was blood for about the first 3 days.

Is severe pain normal after having a stricture stretched or is it possible that the urologist may have done some damage to me? As a side note, he says that he only placed a catheter as a means of holding my urethra open after the stretching.
