It gets better.  I have found that a long, slow taper works best.  I was on sub maintenance for nearly 5 years.  The last year I really worked hard to taper to a super low dose (started at 8mg  and went down to .125mg).  I jumped off about 2 weeks ago, and it really wasn't that bad.  I was able to work the entire time... and though I had a couple of rough days, it has been manageable.  Mild symptoms come and go.  The biggest nuisance at this point is the restless legs at night and the sporadic energy.  Somehow, I've managed to sleep well MOST nights.  I have not used any other prescription meds during the detox, and have relied solely on a multivitamin, B-Complex, and 5-HTP. Don't let fear discourage you... it IS possible to come off of sub without going through complete hell.  :)

This is all true. Suboxone is way worse than anything people use recreationally. Fact is, with a steady dose and supply - opiate users tend to stabilize their life in general. That's why they have success with heroin clinics in europe. It's not so much which opiate you're taking, it's the fact that you have steady/safe access to it.

I recommend kratom for opiate maintenance, if that's what you really want to do. It's just easier, no doctor, cheaper if you buy in bulk. Totally legal and pretty much impossible to OD on, so your safe. It will scratch the itch without taking your over board.

When you are ready to come off it, it's not easy, but it is EASIER than suboxone or methadone or any of the stronger opiates.

I recommend a strong wean, into every other day after which take vitamin c every waking hour at doses around 1-2 grams (1000-2000 mg)

Rounding out my 3rd successful kick, this is by far the most sensible method which even allows one to maintain social duties during withdrawal.

It's not perfect, but it's miles beyond a suboxone taper or $500 a day rehab.

Please get to a dr. Asap and switch to Bupinorphine if you stop you will go into withdrawal and you will misscarry your baby. I have a 17 mos baby girl and switch to Bupinorphine with my Dr. And everything went well. I was on subs when I got pregnant and switch right away. I told my o b doc and everything was fine

I was on Sub for 8 years and have now been totally off for 6 weeks. Looking back, the initial dosage of 16 mg's (two 8mg tabs) was far too much and led to nodding off regularly during the day (if taken at night it disturbs sleep). Additionally, the high initial dosage led to a much longer tapering off period. I started tapering passively approximately 24 months ago by lowering my dose to 8mg's and got serious about it 9 months ago with a drop to 2mg's (smallest tab) per day. I halfed then quartered this amount over 6 months. Then halfed the quarters (.25 mg's) for several weeks and to the point where I couldn't make them smaller. Then I stopped, completely. withdrawal wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined. The restless/ cramping legs was toughest but I took a couple of 100mg tabs of Quinine (Canadian online pharmacy - totally legal) before bed (you can also get a small dose of Quinine by drinking Schweppes tonic water (I think it's tonic....google it:). I had about three 'bad' nights (not terribly bad) and then felt better than I ever had for 8 years by day 4 or 5. Clarity is one way to describe it. No cravings, thoughts etc. What caught me off guard was when around day #10 I suddenly felt very depressed. I've had depression in the past but this was of a different variety. This was due to what I refer to as 'withdrawal - phase II', which was not physical as 'phase I' was. I'm not a patient person but decided to give it time. The 'weird' depression (no interest in much of anything) lasted around 2 weeks, and slowly lifted completely. Thank God! Now I feel like my old self, but 'new'. I hope 'phase II' is gone for ever, I believe it is while remaining cautiously optimistic. If you experience 'phase II' do not fret. It, too, shall pass. Do not be hard on yourself because all of a sudden your motor isn't running. Relax, realize that your body and mind is processing (and looking around for) something it is used to having regularly. Your mind will catch up and, once again, clarity! This was my experience. I hope yours goes well. Stand strong! Godspeed, Friends!

I want to write this post because I feel like everyone is searching for an answer and there really isn't a good answer. Everyone is different.. We are all different sizes.. Some of us are more athletic, different ages, and some of us used more or harder drugs. That being said... Everyone is going to have a different experience. Subs have a 72 hour shelf life. If you are talking a big amount everyday you are building on that life. Most people will wind down slowly.. (I recommend to list to your body and do a 1 mg every 3/4 weeks) until you are down to 1mg. .25-1mg isn't going to make a huge difference in your detox. You will still feel a detox. Here is my experience : I am 28 years old. Athletic. And have taken subs through a dr for two years. The first two days i continued to work out lightly. 30 min of walking on a tread mill. Day 3/4/5 is when you will start to go into a full detox. Legs cramping (please ask a dr. But lyrica or gabipenton is amazing for this and takes almost 100% of the leg cramping, tremors , away. ) it will also make u tiered. I took calonipin for the axiety with the lyrica at night and haven't missed a nights sleep. Night3/4 was a little uncomfortable but I've slept 8 hours. Day 5-14 your going to be up and down. Weak. dierhea. (After day 8 take something to help u to stop going so much) just for one day to give your body a break. Walmart carries generic brands. Vitamin b6 , and Gatorade also helps.. I walked around 30-45 min at least a day (even though I did not want to) Hot showers!!!! Scrub your skin. That stuff loves to sit in your pores.. You may be cold. It might feel terrible on your skin... But you WILL feel better when you get out. One day you will just wake up and feel better. But you need to do something everyday. If you don't want to eat. Eat.. You need the energy. Most people want carbs.. If you are past day 5. It's only up from there .. Make your self move. Open the windows. You will be weak. Emotionally excused . But guess what! You don't have to do this again. You are not jailed to something for the rest of your life. Tell a friend. Get some support. If u have kids find someone that can stay with you for a few weeks to help out . You can do this.

Hello everyone, I've read every single thread before I posted I was a 17 yr opioid bennys H all of it went to get help after mom killed herself and immediately I was done with it but stuck with w/d ... so got on 8mg of sub for 3 yrs this is my outlook on it I'm @ day like 3 almost 4 ... haven't taken a dump yet .. oooh ya bubble guts slight leg pains . Taper is correct I saved 50 2mg I dropped each week 2mg until I had 2 2 mg sub pills left then broke 1 in half took bigger one next day I took a smaller until the entire last pill was darn near nothing. Went 1mg then smaller everyday I've fully jumped at 8mg not smart at all as long as you are relaxing your mind don't read up and get tweeky. . That's there experience. I am 6 3 280 I have hydros and oxy haven't taken not 1 .. but I have been taking xanax 1 mg and all I'm getting now is a light lower back pain same with legs the problem with suboxone is read up on the cdc see what info they say I read it and naloxone Is NARCAN READ IT NO LIE .. and cdc says they are both agnostic so that's why it takes about 3 to 4 weeks to kinda be OK and it still will leanger on . It boils down to how bad do you want to be clean .. and btw bupe is so much stronger than on oxy percs hydros .. this is my regiment Goin now on day 4 still haven't dumped still not exercising I'm smoking pot for the stomach and xanax for the thoughts just pray go to na and get the good lord in your life he will never give you more than you can handle oooh and don't bother after 2 weeks and try more opiods because it won't work . I kno it for a fact . I ate 25 Norco in a 4 hr sitting I didn't feel nada .... went to salvation army didn't sleep for the first 2 months . Theory. . Longer you use longer it's in your receptors. .meaning longer to get out . I'm not trying to scare anyone just stating the facts .. ended up getting kicked out because of no sleep . The key is pot for your guts and dumps and it helps you eat. And get up go outside Now walk around the block the faster you're normal endorphins kick in its kicking that junk out and drink water talk with people at n a as well praise to the great God please pray for all of us .thx hope I helped not hurted.
