The Sub got you Sick not the mixture you need to have a tolerance to opiates to take a sub without getting sick.

Suboxone is not an opiate, you should do your research prior to getting high on suboxone recreationally, its blocks heroin from getting to your receptors so if you use heroin while on suboxone you could go into immediate withdrawls... be careful and do your resarch.

My personal experience in this and as an addict and now alcoholic too was insane I started out years on roxycodone a short acting form of Oxycodone then when it wasn't fun anymore and I wanted help I started a dose of suboxone 2X daily no roxys I worked down to 2.5mgs a day over a year after starting at 8mgs twice daily btw use the sublingual films because you can break them into the doses you need easily now at 2.5mgs and all that time being not high I guess lol I decided to have a few shots with friends knowing its a no no for an addict I but it ended up going just fine nice buzz fun night but I ended up doing it again about 2 weeks later then I didn't drink for a long time and started dropping my sub dose again and switched to 2mg films instead of 8mg so I could break down my doses easy still but they didn't seem to work as well maybe because they are same size so different potency per milligram but eventually I got used to it but anyways I felt bored one night months after my last drink so I decided hey I know what I'll do get a bottle so now I got a fifth just sittin at the house to stare at me when I'm bored lol big mistake now I suddenly find myself drinking even all by myself every now and then not really keeping tabs on how often or how much just doing it whenever I'm super bored and in no time prob another year I'm drinking a fifth of liqour a day and telling myself it's helping me drop my suboxone dose and not feel as bad and it deffinitaly was I got all the way down to a .25mg dose a day that's an 8th of the 2mg strip I get by folding it in half tear it fold it in half again and again but I'm now up to 1 liter of liquor a day and starting to wake up with shakes so I would drink to make them go away then eventually waking out of my sleep shaking and feeling some extreme anxiety so I would drink myself back asleep untill the cycle was so vicious I couldn't sleep deep or enough and couldn't eat waking every hour to drink and sleeping between getting very ill I decided I was going to die if I had to go through this another day but I was scared and didn't want to go to the hospital and baker act myself for detox so I held out for weeks thinking every day could be my last till the point where I couldn't hardly stand and was just begging for someone do drive me there so I got there cried and lost every ounce of my pride was addmitted into their behavioral health center and it wasn't fun but 3 days later I was headed home and into an outpatient program no more suboxone no more alcohol felt like sh*t and probably should have been an inpatient but I actually wanted it this time and continued on clean for 8 months before I had a drink or opiate but eventually I did relapse now I'm still to this day using opiates on occasion and not physically dependant but I should know by now how slippery of a slope that really is but I still havnt learned and plan to start back into an outpatient program again tomorrow before its too late so this is why you DO NOT drink on suboxone and DO NOT drink if your an addict youll end up with permanant damage to your liver an more of a problem than you have now maybe even dead and it's not worth what I've been thru
Sorry guys for no punctuation or anything I typed this really fast on my phone but thanks for listening

I have the same reaction. When I was taking 2 or more subs a day after 2 beers I would quit from the stomach pain. Now as I get lower I seem to be able to drink more. It is strange though. When I am reducing the amount of sub I take I don't get much of an upset stomach. But once I stabilize at a dose for a few days the stomach ache comes back(when drinking.) I have done this a few times when I increase the dose and then start to reduce. My problem is I need 3 2mg subs to keep my colitis in remission. Once I go less my colitis comes back. I am likely one of the only people taking this for colitis but it does work.

I had no idea until I read this post that suboxone is supposed to block the effects of alcohol. I started taking subs because of a small physical addiction to Roxi's (30mg) oxycodones. I was taking 1 or 2 roxi's every 24 hours for a few months and when I stopped I noticed I would get all clammy and had trouble regulating my body temperature. I would perspire profusely from my armpits (even though i sweat a lot more than normal people do regularly due to my hyperhydrosis condition). I actually began taking Roxi's because when I was on them I noticed my armpits wouldn't sweat at all!!! It was like a miracle for me cause I can sweat through a tshirt in under 5 minutes, some days i literally have to change my shirt 5 times because i would sweat through them all! I dont sweat anywhere else on my body badly, just my underarms which anyone who has to wear a collared shirt to work everyday knows can be horribly embarrassing and really ruin your life! Whenever I took a Roxi I would be sweat free for almost the entire day! Well after a few months of taking roxi's it was just becoming to expensive to continue as I was buying them on the street for 20$-$25 EACH and not through a doctor (doctors will barely prescribe pain pills to anyone for any reason in my state now), so I started buying Suboxone from a friend who had a prescription that he only used half of every month. I usually take a 2mg Suboxone strip in the morning and then 1mg (half of a 2mg strip at around 5pm when i get home from work). I don't drink on weekdays but I'm a weekend warrior and consume A LOT of alcohol on the weekends, usually on a Friday or Saturday night ill have anywhere between 5-9 mixed drinks or 9-12 beers in a 5 hour period at a bar. In my opinion I get just as drunk as I normally do if not a slight bit drunker because of the suboxone in my system. I have had 1 or 2 times where I had to stop drinking because I had a little bit of an upset stomach even though I wasn't totally wasted but other than that Ive NEVER had a problem mixing alcohol with 3mg daily dose of suboxone! Everyone is different and obviously you have to exercise caution with any medication mixed with alcohol but Id say you're good to go buddy! Hope this helped!

Would it raise the amount of alcohol content on a police alcohol test..would it increase the # even though you only had one o two drinks?

Dear Issy-I think you have the answer to your question here. Please do not drink on Suboxone. You need support-Once you get all this out of your system you can start living a clean and happy life, really. Would you consent to attending some AA meetings for support? I have struggled with addiction for years and I'm tired now. I know what it's like to be clean too and I'll take that any day. I am currently tapering from Tramadol and working with a holistic doctor. Take care of yourself..we only have this one life and it is worth living.

All these drug kind of questions always depend on the person. People react to drugs differently. Heavey drug users might not react the same way as a first time user would. Alcohol use also affects people diferently depending on weight, full stomach, how they usaully hold their drinking, etc. Also it depends on dosage--how much soboxane and how much alcohol--a little bit of each might not cause too much trouble. Usally alcohol with many drugs have a synergistic affect and should be avoided. At least start out slow, i.e. small amounts.

I would not say the person is a loser in life. If you have never been addicted to anything you have no idea how painful it is to live that way and how hard it is to get it out of your life. Most don't make it. Please don't say you are a loser in life if you have nothing better to do than get high. Believe me as a recovering addict it is the hardest thing I ever had to do, and I'm no loser.

I have to agree with you. I am currently on the suboxone program and recently started drinking. I find that if I get drunk I just end up going to sleep but if i just have a 2 beers when I lay down (relax my body) I notice that my breathing is difficult. I feel like have to focus on breathing. Also I remember one time it was so bad and accompanied with chest pain, I felt as if i was going to have a heart attack. It took me a couple times of going through this before I Put the two together. I always just thought it was anxiety. Do not drink on suboxone especially if you or your family have a history of heart or respiratory problems. If you happen to be at a b'day party or gathering where you do drink and you feeling like you have anxiety or shallow breathing please go to the E.R immediately. Your body. Your body usually lets you know when something is wrong, don't ignore the signs.
