I'm a newb, just researching suboxone withdrawal because I am currently going through this now. Although it isn't painful YET, I know what is coming. I've withdrawn from subx before because I cannot afford the 100$ copay to see my doc for a refill. :-(
I have one pill left and I've been on them since July 2010. I've been quarter'ing them up, taking them that way. So far, severe depression and fatigue but I am also on an antidepressant; I've been diagnosed with depression for 10 + years. So hopefully the anti-dep will help out a bit on the depression part of the withdrawal. I seriously doubt it will much.

In bold, that may be true for you; however, stopping benzos are dangerous. They can produce life threatening seizures and terrible 'brain-zaps' that can paralize you (not literally but can bring you to your knees).

I was extremely upset when speaking to my doc. He has had me on this for far too long. I didn't expect to be on subx for almost a year now. Now, here I am almost right back where I started. One pill left and I cannot afford to return for a refill.

I'm in trouble and no one to ask. I was feeling horrible. I am 61 and got pneumonia and went back to my pain doc. he told me to go back to oxycodone. So I took it for three days. NOW I want to go back on Suboxone and I am scared. anyone know anything? I took last oxy almost 20 hours ago. Can I just take subutex or suboxone and go on or am I in deep doo doo? thanks

Talk with the doc. I was already in withdrawal when starting subox so it would be better to stop the oxy and begin your regular subox treatment plan. BUT talk to the doc first. IMO.

Wow - we are all in the same boat. I just got a letter from my ex-doctor today saying that he's discharging me because of noncompliance! What a joke. I called him last week and left a Sheen-i-esque diatribe on his answering machine telling his ass off - I guess he felt the need to reply. I ran out of money plain and simple. They leave you high and dry. Isn't that negligence? We should all be suing them! I'm still going through hell and I am back on Vicodan to ease the sub withdrawal. I would rather wean down from Vic rather than put up with the depression and exhausion. It's three weeks now. I am hoping next week will be better. The first week I was psychotic, the second week I was suicidal, this week I'm on low-doses of Vic so I'm ok but once it wears off, I feel tired and down again but not as back as last week. I have to work - I have to be sane. No one would understand this! I will be replying to Doctor Lyin'-ass-dog telling him what I've learned and that his not disclosing the truth about sub w/d symptoms is the same as lying. That's a lawsuit.

ttt - it depends on what you consider "not as bad". I can't stand being this depressed. That's BAD to me. I can deal with the physical stuff - it's the mental stuff with sub that's hell.

hey yall from tx. i was recently on subs for 3 years, while getting high on tar throughout those 3 years. my doctor cut me off for failing a drug test. i had heard that some places get you back on opiates b4 they detox you because its easier. i binged doing abt a gram of tar a day for a week and a half. i absolutely do not recommend this, i had just heard this and decided to try it. on the last day i checked myself into a detox program which i stayed at for five days. they gave me adavan and sleeping pills and other vitamins and stuff, i was hurtin pretty bad the first couple of days but i pulled thru. now im on day 10 of being clean and i actually feel ok. maybe it was bc i became a junkie again first. im starting to feel like myself again which is good. the sleepings not so great but i can get enough to function. my advice would be to check up on your local detox programs. i live in dallas, and luckily its a really bad dope city so theres a place that detox's you for free if you dont have insurance. i also dont really recommend this but it helped for me, once youre over the first few really bad days go out and get drunk with any friends you may still have that are clean or just dont do it. also remember, everyones body is different. WHATEVER YOU DO DONT GO GET HIGH WHILE ITS STILL GETTIN OUTTA YOUR SYSTEM, my friend told me he got high a week later after being on subs and just getting high 1 TIME restarted his whole withdrawal process. be safe out there, you are not alone, and things will be better! -dump

We also have a free detox program that I've been in also; and I wish people would take advantage of it. I know a lot of people that suffer but won't go get help. I say it's BS after knowing there IS free help out there.

Switching opiates really does make a big difference. I have learned this from personal experimentation. Basically since your body is mainly addicted to a specific opiate, although also opiates in general, getting off of the new opiate is much easier if it's used only for a shot duration. I would really only recommend 2 or 3 days, but that's no absolute rule. Also if you're doing a switch from suboxone to something else I would suggest using something mild like hydrocodone or maybe even oxycodone (like Percocet, not 80 mg Oxycontins). I haven't done this switching FROM subs, but once did it switching TO subs, and it worked great. I would be a bit worried about doing something that would get me all high again because it would greatly increase the chances for a relapse.

Well, I am into 3 1/2 weeks away from Sub - I took 3- 5 mg Vics to ease the w/d then cut off cold turkey in 10 days. The first day was bad, but not as bad as I have been before - I was actually functioning and at work. Second day - I'm 90% better. It was easy. Just going cold turkey from sub is the hardest thing I have ever been through and I WILL NEVER go through that again. I am drug-free and feeling good. I am going to get my brain back now. God bless you all and I wish you the best and easiest recovery possible. Believe, I know that the only people who understand this are those who went through it. Your family doesn't understand and are judgmental - you have to have been there.

That is awesome!! I am now down to 1/2 to 1 pill a day depending on how I am feeling. I got another refill because I called and explained everything (how well I was doing and how I didn't want to end up on the street seeking pills) and they called me in one b /c the doc was gone for 2 weeks on vacation. I was extremely relived to get that refill. PLUS they went up on the copay!! Instead of 100 it's 175$ =(

Good luck! I hope it goes easy for you . . . titrate down. Yes, I know all about these doctors who abandon sub patients when they run out of money. They are all leches. I hate them all. I am feeling soooooo much better. A little tiredness but hell, I can deal with that! It's nice to feel normal again without drugs.

well tomorow will start my frist day w/o subs. its been 4 months an to honest i am scared to death. I am down to a 1/4 a day for the 2 weeks or so an i am not looking forward to the w/ds. i dont have any insurences so i have nothing to help me come down. is there anything out in a store maybe to help a little with the w?ds??? to be honest reading the comments people have written only make it worse for me, seeing what is coming i really dont want any part in it, but i feel like a slave to this drug. i just want it over and down with!!!!!!!! please god be with me!!!!!
