You hit the nail on the head. That is exactly it.

I wonder if a functional medicine doctor could help. I sometimes wish that I had known about my severe magnesium deficiency earlier, but there are certain "givens" in this imperfect life and I try to focus on being grateful for what I know now. I really believe there is at least a partial solution for the condition you are suffering and hope someone can help you find it. I am praying for you.

I have been wondering what happened to my favorite beer. All the sudden I can't drink it anymore. I have had this same issue before (incredibly gross diarrhea) with quick stars cheap bread. The reaction I had to that bread is now consistent with what happens when I drink my beloved bud light. My guess is either they are using cheap ingredients like that nasty bread or I have developed an allergy/intolerance to alcohol. Either way time to try some new beer and hope for the best.

7 beers is way too much especially since beer is amber in color, any alcohol that is amber has congeners which cause terrible reaction/hangover. Try sticking to 1-2 ounces of white alcohol only and see if your reaction is less. Red wine also causes severe reactions in some people. Drink white wine only.

Me too. I drank 6 shots of vodka, with juice, the other day and felt sicker than I've ever been in my life. It was 6 hrs of Hell, occurring only 2 hrs after I drank

Since you mentioned IBS as well I would look into possible candida or general yeast overgrowth and/or leaky gut syndrome.

I had the exact same thing as in the OP happen to me last night. I rarely drink and drink very little when I do. Last night I decided to have a glass of moscato while I was making dinner. Within 15 minutes of the first sip I was flushed, hot, sweating, nauseous, really dizzy, and generally feeling awful. I ended up sticking my fingers down my throat and emptying my stomach. Once my stomach was empty I felt much better within a couple of minutes except for some lingering skin sensitivity and a stuffy nose. It's weird that getting it out of my stomach brought such a rapid improvement - I would have expected to have ongoing problems due to the wine I already in my bloodstream. I'm off to the doctor tomorrow for a checkup.

I'm sure this is very unlikely!

Anti-histimine before drinking seems to help me

I agree with you Judith, alcohol just is not something I can drink anymore. I would love to enjoy a drink or a beer but the outcomes are deadly. The sweating, and can't breathe normally, constant need to vomit scares me too much. I have to get in a bathtub with cold water to cool my body and stay alive. No thank you.
All the Best,
Ann

Maybe you are just like me, allergic to yeast. That's why I cannot drink beer anymore. I mean, I can, but need to swallow antihistamine before, so it is not worth it. I switched to drinking red wine.
Before getting diagnosed with yeast allergy, I could drink a pack of beer every day without a problem. Suddenly, 2 beers into pack, I started sweating, beer started tasting bitter and I had an urge for vomiting. Was dead scared back then. It was the worst experience in my life.

My husband has been having this issue for a few years although he only just told me about it a few months ago. One sip of any alcohol (liquor, beer, and any wine) and his entire body flushes bright red (even his eyeballs), a few seconds go by, and then it's like his entire body drains of blood and he gets white as a sheet. He said when it happens he feels the blood surging through his body, and on occasion his hands swell, but he doesn't feel any nausea. A few seconds later it passes and he feels totally fine. Sometimes he continues drinking and he never has any other symptoms whatsoever. I cannot remember the last time I saw him drunk tbh and he never gets hung over.

He had a physical and all of his labs were fine. It's like you cannot understand it unless you see it and understandably our doc wouldn't allow taking a drink in-office to witness it herself. lol She referred him to an allergist where he had an entire panel of skin testing done (including doing prick tests with actual rum and vodka that we brought from home) and everything was negative. We have a virtual visit in 2 weeks with the allergist again to discuss histamine intolerance but otherwise we are fully out of ideas.

Did anyone ever get any answers on their condition? I haven't read all replies but i'm wondering if me replying here will bump the thread to get some updates? He's around 40, caucasian, and in fine health besides taking blood thinners for a genetic disorder (he's been on these over 10 years). I have celiac and IBS-C (plus other digestive issues) and can assure you that his digestive system is as regular as can be.

It happened to me last night and the night before. I have been a regular drinker for the last 15 years, and I used to drink a lot (a lot means more than 500ml of hard drinks, mostly whiskey and 5-6 cans of beer, every evening; sometimes in liters) and never had a hangover during the last ten years or so. Of late, I have not been drinking regularly and trying to limit when I do. Before 7th evening, I did not drink for a few days (I drank 60ml of whiskey on the 3rd, and 60ml on 26th before that). On 7 June, when I had the first sip of whiskey (the same brand), I did not like the taste. Immediately my body flushed, which had never happened before. I had to stop at two drinks. The body reacted the same way on 8 June. I tried to ignore and had the 3rd drink, but could not drink more. Now a severe metallic or bitter-ish garlic taste persists in my mouth (that's how whiskey tasted in the last two nights), even after 20 hours of my last drink. Of late, I have indigestion problems (again something which I hardly had in the past), loss of appetite, muscle spasms, over salivating while sleeping, and an unpleasant headache (I have never had headache before, despite two serious accidents).

And let add, I have always liked the taste of alcohol. So much so that even if one blindfolds me and give a glass of whiskey, whether neat or diluted with water, if it's one of the brands that I drink, I can easily tell not only the brand but also the amount of water added!
