I am a 50 year old Female and just started having these episodes around the first of November. The first attack was when i was trying to have a BM and could not, Instead I went to the sink to be sick and immediatley after had the severe pulsating headache. It was not getting any better, so I called 911. I have since had several epsodes going number one and Number 2. Have been to the E.R. three times, had three cat scans of my head and neck area, all came out normal. I have never in my life benn in so much pain as these headaches. Going to the regular Doctor Thursday, will keep yall posted. P.S. I have no health Inurance.

I go through the same thing...during an orgasm or bm....back pains as well...i wonder what could be the connection. When I was a young boy I suffered from migraines, not to much now though. I'm only 28 not as active as I once was with exercising, sports etc.

Several years ago I was very constipated and was having a painful bowel movement. I got the severe headache wchich I had to leave work because I was so sick. The next day the headache was there. I called my doctor and left a voicemail as to what was going on. He returned my call ein the hour and sent me to the ER. He used to be over the ER and he found most aneurism in head were caused by straining. He said so many people were misdiagnosed over this. They did a cat scan and it didn't who anything then they did a spinal tap. That also didn't show anything. He said he would rather be safe than sorry. He said the headaches you get during a bowel movement can be life threatening. Now today I had a real loose bowel movement and the most severe headache I have ever had. I am at home resting but afraid to call the dr because he is going to send me through all that again. But one thing about my dr, I will not die on his watch. So for everyone out there just keep in mind that this can be deadly. Good luck.

I hate to be a nay sayer but thats a logical fallacy to assume because something happened around the same time as something else that they are neccesarily related. More likely it has something to do with tensions and pressures from the bowel movement and less about allgeric reaction on excretion. That doest seem to fall any trend of what causes allergies that ive heard of.

I see this post is over a year old, but this explains my experiences precisely. It is not frequent. Sometime occurs every few months. Today has happened three times. There must be a medical explanation for this to be found SOMEWHERE! HELP!! I'm 55. Live in a dry and arid climate. This has been happening for several years and it feels like you are being stabbed in the temple with an ice pick. I'm 25 lbs overweight. Short. Caucasian. Have had several children. Don't know what else to say except....... HELPPPPP!

this happened to me three weeks ago, rumbling tummy, soft Bowel Movement and excruciating sudden onset headache at back of head. I had another two "attacks" and had to miss a very important wedding. My headache lasted all day, and by the third attack it lasted for several days.  However it has stopped.  I saw my GP who has been a neuro surgeon, and he had no idea what it was, and asked me to keep a diary.  He did not want to send me for scans, as he took my BP and did several other simple tests. All seemed well.

I decided to do my own research and came across a possible link with using oxymetazoline (Sinex). I had indeed been sniffing this several times a day. So I stopped, and so did the headache on passing BM. I also did not eat much except veg soup for a couple of days, and drank tea and water, no coffee. There is obviously a link with bowels. Although my tummy was not painful, it did rumble prior to BM.

I would like to have a reason for this, as concerned that it could come back. It made me very nervous to go out as if I had a BM I would not be able to get home.

Well I am heartened to know I am not alone with this problem but alarmed at. how many of us have this. My problem is that I get a headache just a dull headache when I have a full bowel and need to pass a motion and it does not go away until I do. I find it very strange this is so unheard of; my Dr is very scathing that the two are connected, considering how many of us there are.

You are definitely dehydrated. Headaches at the top are the sign first. Lots of water and make sure you're getting all electrolytes.

Ok people listen up! Now what I am going to say will not apply to all of you but to most of you it will. When pain goes up your spine to give you a massive headache when you pass motion is due to a form of hernia. I am not a doctor so I dont know the full details but I came across it in a weird medical review show and its a form of a frontal hernia. Go back to your GP's or specialists and check. Hope this helps you all.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago for the first time. I went to the bathroom and let out diarrhea it felt like someone slammed my head on the concrete over and over again. The throbbing in my head would make my vision blurry. I went to the emergency room because I was in so much pain and scared for my life. I've never experienced anything like this before. They done a cat scan and done a spinal tap everything came out clear. They don't know what it was. Now fast forward five years later I come home from work at 6 o'clock, i poop casually its not diarrhea. I immediately recognized the feeling that happened to me several years ago coming on. I slow down and start to get worried. My head hurts but stops after 10 minutes. 11 o'clock that evening rolls around I try to be careful and poop again but there is no stopping the pain this time. Once again go to the emergency room followed by a cat scan and spinal tap still no results. I am glad to find out that I am NOT the only one going through this. I wish someone had an answer though. All that I can say is hang in there hopefully we will get an answer soon. God bless to all of us
