I have these episodes also and I am well past menopause so do not think they are related. I am 81. I haven't heard anyone as yet offer an explanation. I sure wish they would. They are scary.

I've had 2 episodes so far.  One early summer, this episode had my chin locked to my neck and I couldn't move for about 30 seconds.  I felt light headed, and then it was over. I was a bit shaken and weak about an hour.  Then about a month ago I had what seems to be the more common symptom that everyone on this blog has been having.  I was sitting at my computer at work.  The pain in my arms, weakness, and again lighthead feeling again.  I was shaken after, and felt like I needed to lay Down.  From what I am reading, I share some common problems.  I do get migraine headaches, and my neck is very straight, instead of curved, with degenerative arthritis so I am beginning to think it is my spine, and nerve issues.

I have recently experienced the same symptoms - sudden overwhelming weakness in both arms at the same time, sometimes including chest tightness.  Can't lift my arms when it happens and I look to sit down quickly - very little warning of a couple of seconds.  Lasts less than a minute but my arms are rubbery for a few more minutes, then I'm fine.  Scary. What if it happens when I am driving?

I have heart disease (3 stents) and take Crestor, I have lots of fillings in my teeth, and I have a lower back issue called sponylolisthesis which causes pain when standing or walking.  Hopefully surgery soon.  I am not short of salt.  These have all been mentioned in previous posts.  Has no one yet found out what these symptoms represent

Over the last 2 years my dad has been experiencing sudden tingling/pain that starts at wrists and traveling to shoulders on both arms. At times the pain will travel across his chest. He has been to several drs. No heart problems, no nerve problems. Sometime the pain is so bad that he gets sick to his stomach. Drs. have no idea and I am concerned. Only happens, maybe a couple times a month. Help.

A few years ago I had a very sudden numbness in both arms at once and immediate. I went to the ER and they took a blood test and found my electrolites were very low. They gave me an IV and broght the levels bact to normal. Problem solved. I have been taking Electro Mix, a powder in a glass of water every morning. Once in a while I still get a lesser weakness in my arms, but I am sure it involves the electrolites in the blood.

Namaste Suprabha,

I had these symptoms recently while traveling in India. At first I was afraid that it may be heart related, so I got an EKG and heart stress test that came out negative. I really appreciate your comment about posture. I do tend to "hunch" rather intensely while working, etc. I will become more conscious of my posture and find some yoga poses to help. Thank you for your comment. By the way, are you located in Washington DC? I know a Suprabha there. Thanks, In gratitude, Ananga

Thank you so much for this information. It makes perfect sense to me as I have chronic lumbar issues and I too was afraid it might be heart related since it only happens from time to time. But, I work at a computer, carry a heavy shoulder purse and I am going through extreme lower back pain at this time. :)

I have similar symptoms, but no ocular migraines. No doctor could explain it till I saw a neurologist for a different problem. I asked him as I have asked every doctor for the last 15 years. He immediately said it was a form of migraine. He says there are many forms, only one of which is the horrid headache. I used to get migraine headaches (though not as bad as most people). I no longer do, just these "episodes". He says there is no need to worry. If they last and are bothersome, to take the same medication I did for the headaches, which is Excedrin for migraines. But they don't last long enough, so I take nothing.
