Hello. I'm 48 year old female and I would like to have someone to talk with me about one specific problem. Three years ago I was diagnosed with one terrible disease called Henoch-Schönlein Purpura.
It is one form of vasculitis and I really don’t know a lot about it.
All I know about it is that it is some form of vessel inflammation and that the worst complication is vessel rupture and massive bleeding. I haven’t experienced anything similar.
My only symptom is small red or purple dots on the skin. I would really like to find out more about this specific disease and to talk with someone about all this. Are there any vasculitis support groups available anywhere?
Hello. About four years ago my little son was diagnosed with one disease called Kawasaki disease. It also belongs to the same group of diseases like yours- Vasculitis!
I have read also that there are many types of vasculitis, affecting different sizes of blood vessel and different parts of the body.
Beside this I know that some types of vasculitis affect predominantly the skin and others can affect internal organs with more serious complications. I have also learned a lot about treatment and living with this strange and mysterious disease. All I know about this I have heard on my support groups I'm visiting with my child two times a week. There are lot of these groups such as The Stuart Strange Vasculitis Trust in Mackworth, Arthritis Care in London, The European Vasculitis Study Group and many others… almost in all bigger cities! You can contact them personally or via mail! Good luck!
