Only use artificial tears! Don't use any drops that "get the red out". It makes your eyes more red and dehydrated.

I'm about to get my pings removed from Dr. Gulani in Jacksonville next week. It's super expensive, though. To removed 2 pings, it's $12-13K..but I haven't found one negative thing about this doctor..

Did you try any other remedies for your pings before you had the surgery?
And how did you find this Doctor?

Any updates on your pings?

Hi MLS489-

I am seriously considering the surgery, I just cannot take this redness, irriation, and paranoya any longer.  Where did you get your surgery done?  I am currently living in NYC.  Any suggestions?  Would you be willing to discuss?

Thanks SO much, Ashley

Hello, I was just wondering if any of the originals posters on this thread were still around. There are so few success stories around and I would be so grateful of you could reply and told me how your surgery went. I'm 27 and have pings in my eyes on the nasal since I was 20, they started off small but have grown much bigger over the last year and they are now starting to develop on the temporal side. Ive been let down by quite a few olphalmologists who didn't really advise me properly on how to stop them getting worse, I wish if researched myself but there is so little written about pings. They make me so sad and depressed and I can't look in the mirror without hating them. They have little red veins going to them and would like to know if they disappear after surgery. I would be willing to save and go to America to have to operation at Harvard eye, it would be brilliant to hear from one of you. Please get in touch Catherine

Hi Catherine, fortunately I have a good ophthalmologist and this is the advised she gave me: first hydrate your eyes, she recommended Refresh Optive but she advised me to try different drops and see which one would suit me better (and to use them regularly during the day, specially if I'm on the computer or watching TV). She also advised me to be out of the sun as much as possible, always cover my eyes either with a hat or sunglasses. In my case the ping was due to a lifetime near the ocean and spending so much of my childhood and youth at the beach. She prescribed Restasis, and some people have complained about it but it works perfect for me since the ping dries my eyes. I too have red veins in my eyes around it, sometimes with my allergies (I also use allergy drops at times) or if the environment is too dry they get worse, but my eyes have improved a lot since I have been under treatment.
She also recommended not to have surgery unless it grows so much that it would impaired my vision, but it was getting so bad that last year I had the surgery. My eye looked really bad right after the surgery, I had to wear sunglasses all the time because of light sensitivity, but in a few weeks it was 100% better. Now I'm really careful to stay out of the sun and near big bodies of water unprotected because the reflection of the light in the water. She also told me that the ping can grow back if I wasn't careful enough.
I also modified my diet, I researched foods that are good for eye health and that contribute to keep eyes hydrated (dehydration and dryness can contribute to the redness).
Hope this helps you!

Hi alliluna, I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner, I have been going through bad time and forgot which message boards I'd posted on. Thank you for replying, it really gives me hope. I hope you are still around on here as would be great to hear about where you had your surgery done and whether your eyes look better. I would love to have the yellow gone and some of the veins leading to it gone too. Did the veins leading to yours recede or get worse after surgery? I was wondering if you had any before and after pictures please, I've took so any of my eyes so I can track if they are getting worse. I hope to hear from you again. I'm despairing at the moment. I'm willing to save andtravel to have my pings removed, just want to know I'm in safe hands, I'm considering john hovanesian and Trevor grey at eye institute in New Zealand. Thank you again :)

Hi. I am hoping that this blog is still live. I have a ping in both eyes but one is more obvious- has red veins and is yellow. I want to remove it because I am really self conciliatory about it. Can anyone advise???
