Several years ago I had problems with my ears and an ENT said my spongy tissue in my sinuses was obese - overgrown due to respiratory issues as a child.
Also another ENT scoped my throat due to reoccurring laryngitis and said that it was simply the environment I was living in.
I'm concerned, of course, that something serious is wrong. I did get checked out a few months ago and the doctor told me it was just the poor drainage due to the situation of the spongy tissue.
Now I guess I have to go and get blood work done and I guess perhaps a biopsy? Another scope? I guess requesting and ENT is the best route....
I have had swollen lymph nodes on the right side of my body (neck, groin mainly) for just over 5 years now and they have been growing steadily during that time. I too get the pressure/ pain in the neck feeling from their presence close to the head & neck muscles and main artery. All tests I have had come back ok. I lead a very active lifestyle and am always doing something and coming into contact with 'new environments and items', all of which contain multiple elements that your immune system must interact with even if just to assess let alone process or fight against. Swollen lymph nodes can be a sign that your immune system is actually working not going under.
When speaking to one specialist they explained that lymph nodes can swell up from stress and anxiety (chemical stress to the body, cannot heal as effectively), infection (viral, bacterial, parasitic...), tissue damage (exercise, injury, disease, substance abuse etc), wrong posture (sleeping, sitting, standing etc), byproducts from normal bodily fluid processing of chemicals and elements our body doesnt need (think of all the chemicals saturated throughout our daily life), radiation (wif, cables, TV signals, radio etc) and more..... unless their are other persistent symptoms as well your body is just doing its job and needs a break to recuperate. Needless to say the 6 months break I had alleviated my symptoms somewhat.
they usually occur around glands and can increase and decrease in size without symptoms?
i've recently had one on my neck/ear which started to get painful and put pressure under the skin
Hi Christieechechardt
I would suggest that you demand to have a fine needle biopsy, it's not uncomfortable, no need for anaesthetic, I had a swollen neck node, wheat to AE after bleeding from my mouth, in Feb 2012, had the blood test and lung X-rays, all normal, so I wen to my GP who referred to a specialist, I ad the biopsy and three weeks later was diagnosed with base of tongue and lymph node cancer, which incidentally I ad for over 18 months, I was too frightened to go to the GP. I had a second opinion as I decided to go private with Bupa, the oncologist gave me a very old prognosis and I decided to stick wit them. I had Chemo and radiotherapy, chemo lasted 9 weeks and RAdiotherapy combined with chemo 6 weeks, I just had a consultation and all seems clear, I have an MRI in November, and today i had my stomach peg removed which was used for stomach feeds, which was put in prior to my therapy. I'm not saying that your case itithe same or will be, but please don waste time, have the biopsy, it will be conclusive and give you pierce of mind. Good luck le me know how it goes...Roc1
I also have swollen lymph nodes i got a CT scan done and there was a small nodule in my lung. I have to go back for another scan in january is this normal or should i be getting something else done sooner?
I have these symptoms and was told it is PTSd and ws put on xananx and stuff to relax me. My ears hurt too. The medication has helped.
if you have pain when you touch ,it is not cancer, from what i have read! i have a lymph node (cancer) ifeel no pain,i had it for 6 years, read that they do not hurt

i have had a swollen lymph node in the right side of my neck for about 6 Years. I'm 15 i have had it checked i also have one in my abdomen. The doctors said they can remove it but they are nervous to do so because it is about 2 mm away from my nerve. If they damage it i won't be able to lift my arm past my shoulder hight. This was about 3 years ago. Since then it has enlarged and gotten smaller it shows more then it usually does at points. but i don't know what else to do about it so ill let it run its course whatever happens happens.
Ask the ENT about these. Chronic sinus trouble is incredibly common, and standing low grade infection along with inflammation will set of the lymph system.
Likely sinus infection. Make sure the doc checks for that. Does the headache get better after steamy shower? Then it's likely sinus infection or inflammation draining into the lymph nodes.
is there anything at home to help get rid of the pain and make the swollen go down with out seeing a doctor?
