My daughter is 17 and had a knot appear in her groin, went to the doctor and was told either a cyst or swollen lymph node. She was placed on a medrol dosepak and 10 day run of Septra DS. About 8 days into it a lump showed up behind her ear. Day 11 and she developed a rash, took her back to the doctor and was told it was do to a viral infection. That was yesterday, the rash is much worse and has spread. The doctor called in another Medrol pak and Atarax for the itching. Just wondering if this is going to help it or if there is something else we need to be doing?

Hello, Guest.  Is your daughter running a fever or low-grade temperature?  What other symptoms does she have?  It seems that the rash could be from an allergic reaction to the Septra DS or Medrol.  Also, if the doctor thinks it is viral infection, why is she on a steroid drug?  Is the Atarax helping with the itching or reducing the rash? If so, that could mean that it was a reaction to either of the drugs.  Make sure she doesn't get that type of antibiotic or steroid prescribed anymore until you know which one is possibly responsible for it.  My personal opinion would be that you seek another physician.  I hope your daughter gets better.

Has any of the forum readers have swollen lymph nodes that "moved" around?
