my 6 year old sone has the same thing behind his ear near his hair line. did you find out what it was yet?
I know this is an older thread, but thought I could help someone who comes across this searching for answers. I have a VERY tender/painful bump on the side of my head, next to ear. It feels like bone underneath the bump. This morning the pain was severe enough to go to the doctor. The pain is now on the side of my head, down to the bottom of my neck (left side) My white blood count was normal, but the doctor said there were 3 insect bites on my head (at the scalp) He said it was most likely a staph infection from the bites and it caused the occipital lymph node to swell. He gave me Bactrim (antibiotic) to take for 10 days. He said it could take weeks for the swelling to go down. Still waiting on other bloodwork, but he believes it will all be normal. Last week I spent several days working in the yard and must have been bitten then..
hi, what happened? did they go down?
I have had the same problem with my swollen lymph nodes. I went to the doctor 3 months ago and she perscribed an antibiotic and the swelling and tenderness went away. But a couple of days ago I started having this problem again. I have also had headaches but it might be because I wear contact and my eyes get tired. I have noticed the swelling really bothers me when I lie down. I have them at the base of my hairline on my neck and I also read about cancer online. They are bother some and I plan to call the doctor tomorrow. I am so glad I am not the only one with these symptoms! I don't wish this on anyone but I feel a little better knowing someone else knows how I feel. This is enough to stress anyone out. I guess I will find out what my doctor says, I just hope its something minor. Oh and yes it sometimes itches.
i am a 15 yr. old girl with a small bump on the back of my head that feels like its protuding out from my skull. i also have swollen lymphnodes below my jaw(which those hurt and are hard) and one on the back of my neck. i have also lost 15.9 pounds in a week and a half. i have lost my appetite and my headaches have been coming more recently. it is like my head feels its gonna explode from the intracranial pressure.( i was also diagnosed with migraines and seizures when i was 10.) i am currently seeing a doctor for the lymph nodes but i still need to get my ultrasound and blood test results back. im scared to tell the doc about the bump on my skull without knowing at least something. %-) Can anyone tell me what it is?
I am 15 year old girl..I have a large swollen lymph node behind both of my ears.It hurts pretty badly.I also have this odd red dots appearing all over my body, i have checked if it is chicken pocks and it is not. My scalp have itchy bumps on them. I have looked all over the internet for answers and all i can find are bad and horrible answers.I can not get into the doctor right now so i don't know what to do so.... im also having a chain of swelling at the base of my neck with intense scalp itching and some back pain. it seems like they swell and drain a clear orange-ish fluid (lymph fluid i suppose). has anyone had a correct diagnosis?
My scalp has been itchy now for a week. My ears were itchy with what felt like little bites. Two even scabed up that could have been from scratching. With in three days it moved over my whole scalp. My right occipital area is now very swolen and causes constant pain. About on inch higher and still on the right side I am getting a new bump. This one feels like a little marble. My right ear hurts a little but the itchy scalp and the painfull swelling is making me crazy. I have taken Bynedryl, Ibuprofen and even tried loratab I had left over from a dental procedure two weeks prior. I swithched shampoos to a Tea tree shampoo and done a lice treatment just in case. No relife from either. I am ready to shave off all my long hair but my husband says it seems to be an internal issue and that shaving would only make me ithcy and bald. I would laugh but I have little humor left as I am always itchy and in pain.
when my daughter was a young girl, say 10 or so, she had occipital bumps on her head that just appeared. it turns out in her case, it was from some ticks that embedded on her scalp (3 ticks, if i recall), from our new dog at the time.
doc said the lymph glands are just responding to the tick's invasion into her body. its an immune response and normal. eventually hers just shrunk and disappeared. i remember doc saying its the occipital. i suppose similar bumps could be cysts and boils and other weird ass stuff that happens to all of us. i would think any one of these could be lanced and drained.
what amazing creatures we are!
Dandruff can cause those lymph nodes to swell. With the swollen lymph nodes and the itchy scalp, it sounds like you have dandruff to me. Those specific lymph nodes are not usually indicitave of cancer. It is usually something with your scalp, and infection, bug bite, lice, or dandruff. I have had a swollen lymph node in the back of my neck along the base of my skull for about 7 years now. It is typically not painful but has become painful on and off through out the years.
Any updates would be helpful?
Hello, I have the same symptoms like you. Did you went to your doctor? Can you tell me the diagnosis? I'm beginning to worry about. Thanks!
This person should def get tested for staff infection, particularly mrsa. Some of the symptoms you talk about fit right under mrsa
That sounds like a Pilar Cyst to me.
