I went for a ct scan and it came back as normal. They said I have a asymetric fatty deposit on the left side. I do have to go back in a month for a follow up. If her symptoms are as mine were with out any other symptoms included, hopefully she'll be just fine. Best of luck to you and your mother.

Hi, I read your post and I have very similar things happening to me now.
If you don't mind me asking....how did things work out? Did you also spit up blood?

Thank you

My node is still the same. Seems to swell sometimes if I do alot of upper body movements (I guess from the extra blood flow) but it moves freely. It's not really firm or fixed as some say cancerous nodes sometimes are. I haven't spit up any blood though. The Doctor said he sometimes see's this in women with horomone fluctuations, which is weird because I'm a man! I still keep an eye on it for changes, but so far so good. Just don't let it go unchecked. Best of luck. :)

Mine turned out to be just a fatty lump! since then I have 2 x 3.7cm lumps in my chest, 2.7 under my arm etc etc! My consultant is telling me that I will still be on watch and wait at least until my next appointment in august. It's still not going to beat me though. Stay POSITIVE and get stronger. Hope all is well with you.

Thank you so much for replying "man"! ...lol

I am getting it checked, already been through a chest xray, 2 throat scopes, neck CT, chest CT, and seeing a pulmonary doctor Monday.

I have enlarged neck lymph nodes, swollen supraclavicular lymph nodes, along with spitting up blood. So far not cancerous anyway :)

Thanks again, and best wishes! :)

Most people who find lumps are likely to be worried, i found a lump under my left collor bone and was really scared to go the doctors because i was affraid of what he might say. I finally thought this worry can not go on any longer because i was loosing sleep and getting really depressed over it, So i made an appiontment to go. My appiontment came round and when i went the doctors he checked me out and told me it was a "cysts" and it would go in 4 weeks. A couple of days after that i got a lump above my left ear i then freaked out even more and was starting to think this might not be a cyst so made another doctors appiontment, i finally went agian and this time i was more scared, he checked me out again (this was a different doctor) and told me it could be swollen lymph nodes i ammeditly thought the worst and he sent me for chest xray and blood tests and then i got the results back about 2 week later, and theyy came back as normal!! big releaf!!!

My point is dont get to stressed out over it because it may be nothing!
And my doctor also said dont take notice of the internet to diognose your self because most time its wrong, so just be possitive and the outcome will be possitive!! :)

I have had the swollen and extremely painful lymph node on the left. The clavicle is awfully painful and I can't really use my left arm. The pain has radiated around the node to my chest and arm. I had a CT scan yesterday and the results came back as no mass, nothing terribly suspicious. Am having a Doppler done tomorrow to see why it is occluded. My doctor said it is from (?)overuse and that it is fairly common. SO I'm still concerned but don't know what they do to diminish the swelling. It's started to give me a headache. Has anyone had this and what is the usual treatment?

Hi there,

My wife is a doctor and on last Thursday (6 days back) when I returned from work - I noticed her as very pale and worried. She told me about Virchow's node and I noticed that she has got some sort of hard swelling (not visible though) above her left collarbone when you try to feel it. I am an IT guy and had no clue that things like that can hit you on the face just like that.

So I depended on the only tool I knew works - Internet. And after googling hours after hours and reading up every single page that has any relevant words to our circumstance - I literally lost my sense (and sleep) for next 3 days. We went to a specialist, who suggested we should have all the blood tests, full abdomen Ultrasound, Chest X-ray, Colonscopy and Endoscopy done immediately. Needless to say we did the blood tests, Ultrasound and X-ray, and by mercy of Allah got the results all normal.

We will be doing the test for tuberculosis tomorrow and Endoscopy early next week. I will try to post our results in this forum, as I have come across too many where they only ask the questions but never bother to reply. Please pray for us.

After doing all sorts of testing, the doctors are confirmed it is not malignancy... it is diagnosed as Tuberculous cervical lymphadenitis, which is curable, her medication has started. So we got lucky this time. Please pray for us!

Wow, mine started in 1999 too. My right side supraclavicular joint started swelling for months, the pain was so unbearable I could not sleep even with pain medicine. I went to my doctor who took x-rays which suggested either arthritis or a bone tumor. It hurts up the side of my neck into my right ear. On and off with pain and swelling for years, shots, medicine, and it still keeps swelling to the point that my chest looks deformed.
Now fast forward 15 years, with months of pain and more swelling to the point of not being able to move my head, if I had to go in and have in needle aspiration in the joint to see what was going on. They could not get anything out of what they thought was a tumor, next they injected the site for pain. A few weeks later the doctor did orthoscopic surgery on the central clavicle joint to clean it out and see what was going on inside to cause so much pain. He was spot on with the pain, the bone had been breaking off into fragments due to the arthritis.

To answer your question YES, I do live by a nuclear plant also. And for 15 years I lived by an Aerojet Plant, that had a creek run off right across the street from my house. All the kids in the neighborhood use to play in that creek, Eight children passed away on our street alone do to that Aerojet plant, my daughter being one of them, do to bone cancer at the age of 18.

I also have Arthritis, disintegration in my back and bones, spurs on every joint, Lupus, Connective Tissue Disease, Fibromyalgia, Migraines, and (M-GAM) Multiple Myeloma, theres more but I can't remember it all.

Now the left side of my clavicle is hurting, I'm due to see my oncologist June 23rd to see what to do next. I'm sorry you're going through so much, I'm at a loss as well.

God Bless

Just read alot of posts from last year. Curious to know if anyone has found anything out. My story : beginning in 2008 I started having what my Dr. thought was a persistent respiratory infection. Lots of coughing, spitting up congestion from chest, even my voice changed, from the coughing they told me. over the next 3 years, my fatigue levels grew greater, had lots of weird things that started going on with my physically. Skin rashes & sores that no dermatologist (out of 4) could diagnose, uncontrollable bleeding if I ever got a cut, very irregular menstraul cycles....the list goes on & on. The end of 2010, started itching so bad my quality of life became greatly diminished. after a series of events that led me to a dr. in memphis tn, I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, Stage IV, at the age of 40.

Trust that you know your body better than anyone. Do not let dr.s dismiss everything as a simple respiratory infection/cold. Insist that they "dig" deeper or continue to see different Dr.s till you find the one that takes all of it serious. It took me 4 years and 9 different Dr.s to ever have just one say something serious is going on, or to know that all of my symptoms pointed to cancer. If I had settled for what 8 other Dr's had told me, chances are I wouldnt be here today. It was a long hard 6 years by the time it was all said and done, and I guess I will never be completely done (still visit the cancer clinic every 6 months for stringent testing), but persistence paid off, and helped save my life.
