Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had a scarf and tailor bunionectomy at the same time??? I have both on my left foot...and the one on my big toe hurts the worst...the small one only acts up occasionally...I went ahead and signed up for both to be done...but I am getting scared as time gets closer...as maybe I should leave the tailor bunion alone...any words of wisdom?

I had a tailor bunionectomy and a Austin bunionectomy both on left foot this past Monday before Thanksgiving. Tuesday was horrific, but now today Friday after Thanksgiving I am getting around...slowly but surely.
I can tell when it is time to get off my feet. Been on short errands.
I'm not certain but I think maybe the pin in the Austin bunionectomy may hae moved a little. Dont know if my podiatric surgeon will be able to tell when I have my follow-up next week.
Had my right foot fixed some 13 year ago with swelling for 6 month afterward. I've been told that this time it will be better...let us pray.

I had a scarf bunionectomy nearly a year ago and I wouldn't recommend it unless absolutely necessary! I now have a pinched nerve in my big toe when I walk on it, the balance point on the ball of my foot has moved quite dramatically and I have just regular aches in my foot that I didn't have previous to the surgery. Please think twice before undergoing this type of surgery.

Hello - I would love to hear from you if you had this done, and how is the recovery. I'm considering the scarf procedure. It would be so great to hear other's stories about the procedure.

Hi, I have had a scarf osteotomy plus my second toe shortened and they also had to put 3 pins in 2 in my big toes and 1 in my second toe three weeks ago today , the first night was horrendous and getting on my crutches after 24 hours was pretty hard but never the less i rested for at least four days at home and then felt pretty secure enough to get on my feet and try to walk with the aid of my crutches and the pain wasnt that bad only sometimes i fet emmense pressure of blood flow to my foot if i did to much try not to expect to much from yourself in the first days. I have had just had the wires removed along with stiches which i found traumatic as the pin in my second toe was jammed and my stiches where imbedded. The lady that had hers removed before me said that she had no pain on removal so i suppose it varies from person to person. I now feel i have gone back three weeks due to the pain in my second toe my scars are pretty big toe but i am sure they will fade. as i have never had normal feet my foot to me on seeing it for the first time felt alien and ugly to me and i have lsot 2 sizes in shoe but i am sure i will get used to it but i am quite reluctant to get the next foot done althoughi know i must to make it look like the other. Take it easy and try not to do to much even if you think you can do it i feel early hours this morning and bangd my second toe wich was agony so my advice to anyone only have it done if it absolutly nessacary hope i help someone who needs to know about this precedure x
