I had my gall bladder removed in October 2007. Since then I've been unable to take any painkillers that contain codine. If I do, I get severe upper abdominal cramps - just like I did before my op. I was given morphine at the hospital recently and even that gave me the same symptoms! What is going on? Does anyone else have the same problem?
It sounds to me like you may actually be allergic to or be sensitive to codeine. Don't worry about this--it's perfectly normal and a lot of people are allergic to it as well so don't sweat it. Have you been to an allergist about this? It would be a good idea! Keep me posted, okay?
I had my gallbladder out almost 3 yrs ago, and I notice that now I can't tolerate codeine as well. Upper abdominal pain is severe. Not good....
I am the same but I can not tolerate any medication or I have the pain of a gall bladder attack now under London hospital to see why
I had my gall bladder removed over 25 years ago. I also could not take codien, morphine, pethadine and cannot eat poppy seed which all make my upper abdomen and lower chest go into cramp like pains.
