Hello, I just wanted to share my experience with Thermachoice. I've been on ever board available and all you read about is the negative comments or horror stories. I recently had a Thermachoice EA 4/23/15 at 8 am at a women's surgery center here in STL.
A little background about my health. I'm a 34 yo, no other health issues except my long heavy periods. I had a fibroid the size of a pea. My periods would last 7-10 days and changing a super plus tampon every hour and a half. Sleeping with an overnight pad as well and changing it throughout the night. Prior to my EA I had depo-vera shots, took birth control, had a D&C and gotten Essure after my fourth child in 2013.
Today, the day of my pre-op, I arrived at 715 am. I was scheduled for a 815 am outpatient surgery. Went through registration, took a urine sample to ensure I was not pregnant then changed into a gown and slippers. No jewelry or any valuables allowed. Make sure you wear comfy clothes to ride home in too. I was then taken back to the pre-op area. Received my IV, leads for the heart and oxygen monitor and a warm blanket. I met with the nurse who will be taking care of me after surgery, then the anesthesiologist and finally my gynecologist. I was on the surgery table by 808 am. I was talking with the anesthesiologist and seconds later sleeping like a baby. THE BEST sleep you'll get. It felt like I wasn't sleep for ten mins.
Afterwards, mild cramping. After having for kids and having periods that left me home for a few days, this cramping I could handle. My nurse gave me some graham crackers and a sprite. I wasn't queasy our anything. I tolerate anesthesia pretty well. After snacking I took a percocet pill and my GYN prescribed me some for home. Stay on top of your pain every 4-6 hours. Don't wait till it gets bad because then your meds wont work. I was out of the surgery center and on my way home by 930 am. I have had no discharge at all so far. Just very very light brown when I wipe. Came home to sleep for some hours. Still mild cramping. Its easing up. 3-4 hours later drove to Walgreens which is a block away for pads and some ibuprofen for tomorrow. I will be returning to work since I have a desk job and sit for the most of the day. Ill continue to keep you all updated as much as I can so you can have an unbiased truthful story about Thermachoice. So far everything is going great! My period is supposed to start next week on Thursday. Fingers crossed!
