I had typical symptoms of hemorrhoids, so I visited my doctor for a treatment. He just confirmed, but he told me that I have thrombosed hemorrhoids and that I might be needing surgery. I am very scared and I don’t know what it means. What kind of hemorrhoids are thrombosed ones? I had blood in the stool is that a sign?

You have the blood in the stool because sacs of the blood, which we all have in the passage of the stool through the anal canal, become stretched and enlarged (and then they are hemorrhoids) and when they ripped they bleed. Yours are external, because they can become thrombosed, which mean they developed blood clots inside and they are tender. Hemorrhoids are usually external, but there are ones placed inside the canal and they may also bleed. Thrombosed hemorrhoids are painful and no one knows why people suddenly develop clots in them. I think that any doctor would suggest you surgery for this.
