cnaEmily- Here's my try at a response, I have been monitoring this for a while now, like three years. The number one test that I can suggest is a sabbatical from your present home for the period of one month, to see if the swelling is environmental. I found in my case, moldy duct work, pet dander, and one carpet in particular was fouling the air with mold spores. If your house has a damp basement, or if your duct work needs cleaning, these areas should be looked at. Sometimes mice can get into the duct work, and their by products or deceased mice can be the source of mold spores, possibly the more harmful types, one of which is called histo plasmosis (SP?) Also, my central AC unit was placed too close to the basement floor, and was always somewhat moist, causing this air to pick up mold spores. To make a long story short, in my case, I have ruled out food allergies as the primary source, and established airborne mold and tobacco smoke as my culprits. Good Luck, Dan
You didn't mention if you were a coffee drinker, sometimes caffine mixed with other medicines can cause the symptoms you decribed , Also try antihistmines such as beneydryl .sound like your allergic to somthing,......good luck
well i have been taking those pills for 2 years now 1 in the morning and 1 before bed time, and it did not change a thing, still have swelling in my neck and face, throat still feels the same, but now i got pain in my ears
i am careful with my food intake still no change, guess Nexium doesn't work and i have tried all of them

I have this too and with all of the extensive things I've done, basically I have been told it's a thing called globus syndrome, also know as peach pit syndrome because it feals lile you have a peach pit stuck in your throat. They also say that is called by stress, which when I originally got it was at the happiest time in my life, so go figure. The only thing that does seem to help is Nexium, all the other acid reflux meds I tried didn't help it. I have been struggling with this for 5 years now. It really sucks because you feel like you can't breath and all the ENT's and doctors act like it's alll in your head because they can't see anything that is causing it. Now if it gets really bad I take a Xanax or I go into a panic and make it even tighter and end of at the ER, which they don't do anything either. Good Luck with that.
My son had hives and severe itching several times with no apparent reason stating at age 9. Allergy skin test didn't identify any allergy. For about a year, his Dad and I saved labels from foods he had just before hives. These were things he didn't eat all the time. It turned out to be an allergy to a food preservative common to all the foods...potassium sortbate. There is no allergy skin test for this. We even went on website of McDonalds to get food ingredients of soft ice cream after he got hives apparently from this. Other food preservatives don't bother him. PSorbate is in margarines, yogurts, soft ice cram, Twizzler candies, lots of other refrigerated items at grocery store. He avoids these. He is 21 now and no hives for over 5 years.
Could be H-pylori which is especially common in smokers. The symptoms sound like peptic ulcer, which is typically resolved with eating and worsens hours after. Good luck and God Bless.
To the individuals suffering from a lump sensation - take Dramamine or specifically something containing dimenhydrinate and diphenhydramine and let me know how you feel afterwards.
hi everbody ...i have the same issue ...my neck swelling and i feel hard to breath ...and i have went to so many hospital but they old me that my breathing is okay ....but for me i know it not ...coz i feel so difficult to breath ....
I was shocked to see so many identical cases to mine! Swelling started on the right side, turned into a soar throat, then overnight I could hardly swallow or talk! Oh the burning and pain! I'm a fan of fixing myself, as most of the time doctors don't know what's going on. I took a good look at the few comments about Tonsil Stones.
Man up for pain! I took a q-tip and mashed down on my left tonsil (ouch!). Sure enough, puss and hard white chunks, along with a lot of blood, came out. I can talk now, and swallowing sure doesn't hurt as much. I'm having trouble with the right one as it's far worse and I'm right handed, but I got a small chunk out and it's a dose of instant relief. Save your money, go buy some q-tips, take a deep breath, and saw "AH"!

I was shocked to see so many identical cases to mine! Swelling started on the right side, turned into a soar throat, then overnight I could hardly swallow or talk! Oh the horrible pain! I'm a fan of fixing myself if I can, and after just 12 hours of not being able to drink, talk, or swallow, I decided to do some investigating. I found this topic and I took a good look at the few comments about Tonsil Stones. Here's how it went for me...
Man up for pain! I took a q-tip and mashed down on my left tonsil (ouch!). Sure enough, yellow puss, hard white chunks, and a lot of blood popped out. I gargled with mild salt water to clear the mess up. I can talk now, and swallowing sure doesn't hurt as much. I'm having trouble with the right one as it's much worse. Every time you dislodge a "stone" it's a dose of instant relief. Save your money, go buy some q-tips, take a deep breath, and saw "AH"! I would not advise this to people who are very sensitive to pain though. It's very unpleasant.
After-thoughts: My tonsils do push out gross little white flakes sometimes. I eat very raw and natural, and I have observed that whenever I eat sugar I see these flakes expelled. An unprecedented quantity of sugar had entered my diet two weeks prior to my throat swelling shut. I draw the conclusion to too eating much sugar, resulting in my lymph system getting overloaded. Simple cause and simple (but painful) fix.
