I just went through a procedure where they put a camera down your throat. I have had the tightness for a while only when I lay down at night. It was a hiatus hernia. I don't know if that is all. they are going to check my endocrine system next month to see if the thyroid is involved. It felt like I was trying to swallow wet felt. My sinuses were stuffed all the time. they told me not to eat anything three hours before lying down and only water, cranberry and milk (milk out because of problems with dairy) so far it has helped. At least I get some sleep.
What you're describing is EXACTLY what I'm having to do a lot of. Its been like this for a little over a year, It comes and goes, but for the most part it stays with me for weeks on end. It is more evident at night when I need to lay down but it does stay with me through the day as well. There is the tightness in my throat, my jaw is tight, I have a hard time getting a full breath of air, and the yawning is the only way I can manage to break through to get some air. I'm also having to breath mostly through my mouth not my nose. I do have some issue with stress and also have to take some Xanax to relax and get enough air and to loosen my throat just a little. But there has to be a better solution. What did you eventually end up doing to solve this problem?
Hope to hear form you. Thanks.
I don't know the direct problem, but I imagine it's a combination of things, none of which requires a pill or tablet to fix.
I meditate and clear my throat chakra and that 'always' helps when I do it, but I noticed it needs something more later when
I move around a lot. So, my throat muscles are tense and they need relaxation, but something is causing them to tense. What
could it be? I am slightly iron deficient and am trying to get that on track as well, and I do believe that works, as iron helps send oxygen
to the muscles! But since I'm low on money, its hard to always have the right groceries.
Also, tension in muscles connected to the throat can cause this as well. Eliminate all of this! I noticed when I eliminate tension
in muscles around these areas, I burp up gases that have been trapped in there. Interesting.. Also I read someone's comment about
pinching the skin from below your ear and back of your neck and holding it, even though it's tricky (not much skin to hold on to), and this has worked too!.. try all of this if your problem is not severe.
Hi
I have the same problems of tightness and some time pain in throat,my doctor said this is due to throid nodules enlargment. Can any body tell me this is due to enlarged nodules, because i am so worried about this problems from one year.plz sugeest me what should i do.Than You.
I'm having same problem. i've been choking on food for two years now. Going for Barium test next week but I find tongue extension excercises are helping. Just stick out your tongue as far as you can seems to be helping.
I can relate with your problem, two years ago i was diagnosed with severe panic disorder, agoraphobia, depression, anxiety disorder and last year i was always sick to my stomach and had the lump in my throat all the time like something i could not swallow or hack up, I went to the doctors and I had an ultrasound of my throat and they found a pencil lead size nodule on my thyroid and also was checked for graves disease, of which i do not have, I do have my nodule checked once a year to make sure it does not change size, if it changes in size then i have to have it checked for cancer by them draining it, so i hope it does not change size. I then had to have the stomach aches looked into since i lost over 25 pounds and kept losing cause i could not eat. I have a disease called GERD a type of acid reflux but the acid only comes up once in a while other times it just sits in my esophogus, so I have GERD with esophogeal esophogitus, I get the tightness in my neck right before I eat or feel hungry and then my anxiety kicks in and makes it worse, so i just make sure i have a snack or eat right away as to not get anxiety. My docs put me omepryzol (spelling) its an acid reflux med you can get over the counter if you have no insurance. Good Luck and I hope you feel better.
