Im 30 years old, no health problems ever, and I've been getting this tingling for a couple of years now. The feeling would usually just come over half of my head and I thought it was strange at first but then I noticed that it usually seems to be a response to a kind of strong stimulus (i.e. a really strong thought). Then I found I would I get it way more when I was meditating and concentrating so, and sometimes its over different part of my body depending on my focus. So though I havent had it checked out yet. my guess is that it is an issue of blood circulating, or (if you believe in such things) an issue of energy/chi (also spelled qi or ki) flow. I've thought about getting it checked out just to make certain I dont have some crazy tumor or something (hahahaha) but I havent got around it to it yet. My un-professional advice, which isnt necessarily to be trusted, is to watch how the experience relates to particular thoughts or feelings. Maybe it is like mine and comes about with stronger thoughts or feelings.

I have just come across this post and I am a 30 yr old hypoglycemic and experience anexity as well. I am on anti depresents as well. I too have have the right back side of my head go tingly and numb. It drives me crazy and it last for up to 10 to 20 minutes every day. I am just so happy to know I am not the only one who experiences this. I would just like to know what it is and how I can get rid of it.

I'm twenty and I've been getting tingly sensation in my head almost closest to a headache, I've been getting it for two and a half years now, I'm on Resperidone 7 mg now, last year I was only on 4 mg... I think it might be something to do with your medications. I'd like an answer for this tingly sensation, Right after 10 minutes I get a head ache...

Hi there, I have pretty much the same tingling behind the right ear, and I am only 42, and had a FULL hysterectomy so it can't hormonal related...I found out that it's likely the cause of Herpes Zolster...SHINGLES...the virus that causes chicken pox...this is a prime sign it has been woken up, and is waiting for your body to get sick so it can activate itself...only the right conditions will activate shingles full blown...high stress wakes up the virus and low immunity activates it... do some research on it....i had a classic case of Jaw shingles a few months ago, and didn't really understand the virus until it activated on me...then i researched it like crazy and it can take up to a year for the virus to go back being dormant...it's very commonly misdiagnosed and many folks don't realize what's going on with them, and what to expect...it kinda sux....but hopefully this helps you folks.

I have a chill that runs up the back of my neck and head several times a day and lasts about 15-20 seconds. I was diagnosed in April 2010 with sarcoidosis an auto immune disease. I am now a 60 years old female. I thought it was a central nervous system problem a year ago or part of being on a prednisone therapy. So I went to see a neurologist and all of my tests were negative. I googled "chills on top of my head" today and found your page. With Sarcoidosis you can have problems with your pancreas and occasionally my blood sugars run high. I could also be a little anemic, due to having an allergy to gluten, citric acid, ascorbic acid (preservatives) and am now on a gluten free diet. I also had a hysterectomy at age 25, so postmenopause. No one seems to be able to explain it, so it must not be concern. I will check with my lung doctor and let you all know what he has to say.

I've been diagnosed with hypoglycemia, ADD, IBS... all kinds of guesses on what's going on. This thread began with the hypersensitive tingling around temple from ear to top of head - this was what I was searching for and found my way here.

Something to consider...

I have the same thing. Tingling on the right side of my head behind the ear. Mine occurs when I am in a particular position and my doctor says that it is a pinched nerve.

I have the same problem!!! This is very relieving, at least to read that there has been some cat scans and MrIs without any negative feedback! Mine started about 2 weeks ago as well. I am a 32 year old female. I have anxiety issues but I have had that all of my life without this tingling situation in my head. I also take prozac but have been on that for years as well. So I am not apt to think that could be related. Mine is on the right side of my head only, feels like something crawling just under the surface of my scalp. It comes in waves throughout the day and sorta has a crawling, tingly, sometimes almost like an itch..but not...and it starts in one spot and sorta travels in short little waves. It seems to focus itself more behind and above my right ear and up towards my temple. Sometimes the whole area feels sore to the touch and more recently my temple seems to hurt throughout the day. I also have been getting severe headaches over the past couple of years including since this new sensation started a couple of weeks ago, not sure if thats related either. I have an IUD and so I dont think menstual stuff could be affecting it, However, the other other night while I was lying in bed trying to ignore this frustrating feeling, I suddenly felt weak and shaky and clammy as if my blood sugar had just dropped severly...I ate a banana and that helpd. I don't know if I am hypoglcemic but after reading these posts, I'm interested to know if maybe I am and that could be causing it. However, I made a doctor's appointment for tomorrow morning and I will let you guys know what they say, in hopes that it could help.

XD YATTA(Hooray in Japanese)!! i'm not the only person with this! For me, it stays in one area of the right side of my head:about an inch above my ear, 10-20 seconds at a time as well. Im 13, and I'd say I'm pretty healthy.I just hope this is not a serious symptom of a head problem, btw, mine come and go every few months or so or whenever i spend alot of time on the phone, with my earphones, or on other electronics. It feels alot like a bug crawling on my head, but in one place. I dont know if this has anything to do with the fact that ever since i was really little, i always got headaches on the Left side of my head, and never on the right.

I haha... also get this.
i have never had issues with sugar how ever there are numerous people in my family with diabetes... like every other family i think ano a days.

i've hat it all my list in the rest of my body. usually before going to bed...
about 6 months to a year ago... seems to be a common factor. I started getting it on the right side of my head.

starting as a tingle around my temple / crown are and then spreading to the left side of the head.
first a light tingle eventually progression to a twitch/vibrating feeling.

i would describe my self as a right brained person... i get this while being creative, listening to uplifting music or when im really relaxed.

I also hear a ringing... different volumes at different times... usually faint and not noticeable.
when i tv is on in the other room on mute i cant hear it for example...

almost like i hear the phone ring before it does... there is a slight delay... dont know it it has anything to do with it.
