I'm also contemplating this surgery, I'm 59/f. My problem is very large tonsil stones, that feel like someone's poking the back of my throat whenever they rub against it. I haven't slept for more than 2 hrs at a time for the past 5 mths! I've been trying any/all remedies : waterpik, nasal rinse, humidifier etc. So far chewing sugarless gum is the only thing that seems to quiet it, but I'm bloating and having a lot of gas from the Sorbitol. Did you end up doing the surgery?

So happy to hear a positive post on this surgery! I am 57 and have an extremely high tolerance to pain so you are my inspiration for this surgery...

Because you are older. Takes time to heal
Its best to get them out by age of 6 or 7
You don't need them . Same with adenoids
My brother was 35 his out and yes he was miserable for 2 weeks.
Hope u feel better soon.

I am 60 and keep getting food stuck in the left tonsil. It is very painful sometimes. Scared to get them out. Been to 2 ENT one does not want to take them out at my age says lots of complications especially bleeding. The other made it sound not so bad says he does people my age often but he does not remove all of the tonsils he shaved them down. But the 1st ENT said that usually does not help the problem I have with food cause there can still be holes in my tonsils if some of them left. Not sure what to do.

Hi, Sandy! I know it's been about a year, but I was wondering how long did it take you to totally get over the pain? I can understand you being tired, because pain can be a very exhausting thing for the body, mind and emotions to deal with.
