I feel lost. I had cataract surgery. First the left eye, two weeks later the right eye. A week after the right eye I started to lose vision in my left eye. I was scheduled with a retinal surgeon that day and was told it was urgent. The surgeon, Dr. Holecamp in South St. Louis County Missouri, looked at both eyes and performed immediate surgery on my right eye, it had a slight tear in the retina and she repaired that with some technique with nitrogen. It was very cold. She scheduled the left eye the following week. By the time I went in my vision won't from a shadow in the upper right corner to about 70 percent vision loss. There was one surgery, a week later, a second surgery was scheduled with the result of having a bubble that faded in 2weeks. A third surgery was scheduled, and was told this was a major surgery. I had a bubble again this time for just over a month. It is three months after my third surgery. The bubble is long gone but my vision is not good. I expected better, but I believe Dr. Holecamp did the best she could with what she had to work with. I was type 2 diabetic, and suspect that played a part. Currently squares and rectangles have irregular edges, items in my left eye seem significantly smaller than the right eye. I can't see distance well at all, nor can I read with it. I have always had a lazy eye, therefore I have always had double vision. Because of this I don't notice the effects as badly as someone else might. It is hard to be upset with the results because the alternative is being blind in my left eye. But I was sure hoping for better results. In can't see distance, I can't see close up. I was told this could take six months to totally heal and repair. Am I just not patient enough? I am not seeing any more improvement. What kind of glasses could I get that would correct my distance AND my reading vision? I am 70 years old and am on Medicare. Currently I have a good supplement but Medicare won't cover laser surgery for my eyes. What is your opinion on my vision with what I told you?
