Every time I have gone for therapy or a massage they tell me they have to break the toxins down in my "tender spots" so they can exit my body.
Can anyone tell me what the therapists mean by this?
And what causes these toxins?
I feel the pain...just need to know what causes it and how to prevent it.

Muscles can retain toxins that we don't even know we are holding - coming from many avenues, here are some examples: environmental (pollution), consumption: diet (too many processed foods, not enough antioxidant rich fruit/veg) substances (alcohol, pharmaceuticals, illicit etc). Muscles hold memory as well (remember we are made 70% of water, water also holds memory. (Check out Masuro Emoto's cymatics experiment on YouTube to understand this some more).
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that muscles hold memory, including trauma. If we've injured ourselves, the emotion and pain of that trauma is often retained and can serve as toxic as external excipients such as from what we've consumed.
It is important to work through the physical, emotional and mental aspects of any injuries, and especially the significant ones.
Eg. Gentle stretching and breath work. Gentle movement flowing through motions such as Tai chi is another good example.
