I am going to take the liberty of also answering these questions from my point of view, seeing it seems we are all in this together.
No eye infection as far as i remember. Not colour-blind. As for the vision, i think my "bad" eye makes things slightly blurry, but mainly at night after a long day. A small sense of double vision now and again.
I did feel very depressed for a long time, mainly because of smoking a lot of weed and the droopiness that followed. It made me very insecure, which was the worst. I am normally a very outgoing and confident young man, but this Ptosis has definitely made me less of my true self.
Did not hit my head. Get some head-aches now and again, but nothing serious. Not sure about the "dips," but i have more of an oval face with a butch jaw line (don't know if that helps..). No drooping in old photos, and trust me i have looked! I remember the day it started, so i was never born with it. My dad has quite narrow eyes like me, but he doesn't seem to have it - however old or elderly people getting droopy is very common and is most likely nothing but age.

The same for me. I never went into depth with this problem, and now i have kinda learned to live with it, but i am definitely getting an operation at some point after i know what caused it. Then i have a feeling i will be unstoppable again and get my life going the way is was headed before all this ptosis/droopiness started affecting me.

Hey. I'm a danish guy at the age of 26 (but my Ptosis started around the age of 22). Excactly like osibisa, I am in great shape, have a completely uninteresting medical history and smoke weed/hash on a semi-daily-basis. It all happened gradually and in the beginning ONLY when i smoked weed. I would notice, when looking in the mirror, that my left eye lid/brow started to droop just a little. However, as I ignorantly continoued smoking joints, the ptosis got worse and worse, but only on my left eye. After about a year the ptosis was permanent also when i was sobor, but the weed really intensified the droopyness. Now, 4 years later, it doesn't seem to get worse, but it is still psychologically hard, when looking people in the eye, they qiuckly pick up on it and start fiddling with their eyes.

Oh I have to remember to say this, because i think it is quite interesting. osibisa, you said you felt like there was a speciefic part of your brain that had a "wierd" or "numbing" sensation too?

I get that, followed (very often) by an increase in heart rate and then sometimes anxiety if I am surrounded by people i don't know or like. Am i in good campany, the "numbing sensation" is still there, but it still gives me a good high. Is it the same for you?

I have (only after 4 years) started reading up on it and i have come to the conclusion that it might be Myasthenia gravis or epilepsi. I am going to see my doctor on Monday Jan 5th 2015, so I am anxious to know what he thinks and what the tests might conclude. I will let everybody know what my results are and the gravity of my situation.

In the meantime to all of you weed smokers who start getting lazy eye, droopy eye or any other fascial disfiguration while smoking, my only advise (and i f*****g wish somebody told me this 5 years ago!!!!) is to steadily decrease your smoking habbit, untill it is non existent. I really belive that we few who get affected this way by weed, unfair as it is, are slowly destroying our minds/brains.

I know that is not the answer you want, or i want for that matter, but weed despite how lovely the buzz, will continue to change your life for the worse. I hope this helps and like i said, i will let you know what my results are.

Happy new year from Copenhagen!

I'm in the same boat as you all, droopiness started after smoking although I had been smoking for a couple of years before it started. Now it's gotten to the point of being perpetually drooped even when I'm sober (although smoking makes it much worse). It's made me insecure as well and made me a non-functional smoker. Got me really depressed as I'd be thinking about how id never feel comfortable smoking with girls etc, and I started to not like smoking in public. Started being more withdrawn, stayed in my room most of the time. I read up on surgery but I knew I wouldn't stop smoking and I figured it would just undo the surgery. In my opinion, unless you wanna quit smoking, just embrace the cards you've been dealt as there's not much more that can be done. But there is a certain level of comfort in knowing that I'm not going through this crappy situation alone

Hi,
I just stumbled across your post while looking for L sided eyelid drooping. I don't (and haven't previously) smoked marijuana, but I also suffer from 1 sided ptosis which becomes worse at times - eg: esp when I'm tired. I have done much reading on this subject and thought I'd suggest 2 possibilities not mentioned in other posts.
(1) Silent and / or occular migraine - can cause weird head symptoms / body symptoms - doesn't have to have actual pain.
(2) Myasthenia Gravis - fairly uncommon neurological condition. One of the main symptoms is one or both sided eyelid drooping - worse on fatigue or when muscles relaxed - marijuana being a muscle relaxant would most likely cause worse drooping. If you google Myasthenia Gravis (esp ocular) - there's lots of info out there. Having said that, it's most likely NOT Myasthenia gravis as it's pretty rare, but still......
Good luck with your search for answers.

Hi there, how did you go? What was the diagnosis? I get a sticking/slow to open left eye when tired and have closed my eyes for a bit but especially pronounced when I use weed. Haven't noticed if it happens simultaneously with the sticking eyelid but I also often get a tingly (hadn't thought if it as numb though) feeling on the left side of my scalp when using weed. Same, feels nice. Otherwise pretty good health apart from rhumatoid arthritis. I am 55, female & smoke daily.

Hey - I'm 23 and had the exact same reaction to fatigue and weed. I was diagnosed with myasthenia over a year ago - undiagnosed for years. I would say you have MG also

did u ever figure out what it is becauuse i am currently in this same situation

You need to see a neuro-ophthalmologist. It sounds like ocular myasthenia gravis, which can become generalized, and deadly, if not addressed soon enough. (From experience).

You'd be suprised at how common it really is, it's just very understudied and underdiagnosed.

Hey Mikkel (and everybody). I have the exact same problem as u, i can relate so much. Im only 17,have been smoking for a year now. Not daily, but like every 3 days. This problem occured after my first time I smoked marijuana, but i thought its just a coincidence and never really thought it might have happened because of it. This sh*t made my life terrible. Has anyone healed from this or am i hopeless. Seeing this thread ill stop smoking right now, will it get better? What are my options? A helpful answer would literally be life saving.

Could you please let me know what you got from the results? I have this problem.

Your eye muscle is weak.
I get the same thing especially when I'm blazed or tired. Brain fog.
Try this. With only the weak eye open focus on objects from different distances, start with your finger a cpl inches away. Do this multiple times a day
Roll your eyes both ways slowly for the full circle and also half circles.

Hi, I know this was posted over a year ago but I'm just looking into this now and noticed we might have the same situation... I woke up one morning and my eye was what I thought was "swollen" and it stayed like that for a week and slowly went away. It was still noticeable that one of my eyes was droppy . It's been maybe 2 years now and it's not as noticeable anymore , you can usually only tell in pictures or when I smoke marijuana. I was wondering if there was anything you ever did to fix it or any recommendations you could give me.

True that.. I think it comes down to simply being left or right handed.. I think everyone has a stronger eye or side than the other.. the best you can do is continuous eye exercise.. any updates?..
